Shudder, AMC’s horror and supernatural streaming service, has ordered a full set of season 3 scripts for the series based on George A. Romero’s iconic 1982 movie,Variety has learned exclusively.

The order comes despite the fact its second season isn’t close to being in the can yet. Season 2 of “Creepshow” was due to start shooting in March in Atlanta, but was hit by the coronavirus production shutdown which has blighted every single film and series across the country.

As Shudder general manager Craig Engler explained in a statement, the script order is a contingency plan to allow showrunner Gerg Nicotero and the creatives behind the show to “get as far ahead as possible.”

“Although season 2 is on pause while we wait until it’s safe to go into production, we wanted to use the time to start work on season 3 scripts to let Greg Nicotero and his amazing team get as far ahead as possible,” said Engler.

News of the script order comes after the show’s freshman season ended a strong run on AMC, following its debut on Shudder in Oct. 2019.

“’Creepshow’ continues to be near and dear to my heart and having the opportunity to continue the legacy by developing season 3 gives me the chance to work with some of the best storytellers and artists in the business. The stories we have in the pipeline for season 2 are even more outrageous, more fun and capture the spirit of what George Romero and Stephen King started in the ‘80s,” added Nicotero. Source

I need to finish season 1. I wasn’t blown away by the episodes I’ve seen so far, but there were a couple stories I liked. Really hoping it gets better because I want to love this show.

Anna Camp, Adam Pally, Josh McDermitt, Keith David & Ashley Laurence Join Season 2 Cast As Production Begins

AMC Networks’ Shudder has begun production on season 2 of its hit horror anthology series Creepshow in Atlanta, GA. Anna Camp (Pitch Perfect), Adam Pally (The Mindy Project), Josh McDermitt (The Walking Dead), Keith David (The Thing) and Ashley Laurence (Hellraiser) have joined the cast of the six-episode second season which will premiere exclusively on Shudder in 2021.

The anthology series, which shattered Shudder records when it debuted last October, is executive produced by showrunner Greg Nicotero (The Walking Dead) and based on George A. Romero’s iconic 1982 movie.

Shudder also revealed initial details about four of this season’s segments, which will be directed by Nicotero. Camp and Pally will star in “Shapeshifters Anonymous” Parts 1 and 2, written by Nicotero, based on a short story by J.A. Konrath (Last Call) about an unlucky soul who finds himself in need of a werewolf support group; McDermitt, Laurence and David will star in “Pesticide,” written by Frank Dietz (I Hate Kids), in which an exterminator makes an infernal bargain; and “Model Kid,” written by returning Creepshow writer John Esposito (season one’s “Night of the Paw”), is about a 12-year-old monster fan who turns to hand-built model kits to escape his unhappy reality. The show is following all safety guidelines and protocols in accordance with SAG-AFTRA, DGA, IATSE, TEAMSTERS, CDC and state and local guidance, the network says, as it begins filming amid the coronavirus pandemic. [×]

Kiefer Sutherland, Joey King Set for Shudder Animated "The Creepshow Halloween Special"; Based on Stephen King, Joe Hill Stories

Kiefer Sutherland and Joey King will lend their voices to Shudder’s upcoming animated "The Creepshow Halloween Special", based on two stories by Stephen King and his author son Joe Hill.

It premieres October 26 on Shudder.



Sutherland will star in “Survivor Type,” based on King’s short story adapted by the special’s director Greg Nicotero. Sutherland plays a man determined to stay alive alone on a deserted island no matter what the cost.

The second tale, “Twittering from the Circus of the Dead,” based on the short story by Joe Hill and adapted by Melanie Dale, stars Joey King as a teen whose family road trip includes a visit to the gravest show on earth.

Looking forward to this. I just watched the first season over the last few nights. Although some of the stories ended a little too abruptly

, I enjoyed it a lot. So I'm looking forward to season two. From what I read it sounds like it might have a few more episodes than season one?

Loved the practical effects, and it was also fun picking out all the Easter eggs, although I'm sure I missed plenty.

I enjoyed the season premiere a lot. "Monster Kid" made me nostalgic for something I never got to experience, being a horror fan as a kid.
