What is the easist way to connect speakers to the reciever? Banana plugs look pretty easy to connect and disconnect. Is it hard to get the plug onto the wire? The other question I have is what guage wire should I get. I will be using the klipsch quintet II and onkyo 705. The longest any of my speakers will be wired is probably about 15 feet or so?

Kind of wondering this myself, I have binding post terminals. Wondering what the best thing to connect the speaker wire to them is (besides just screwing them on the speaker wire...it has hurt the wire a bit)
update...duh...banana plugs... |

Make sure all the speaker wire runs to the front 3 channels is equal length. The same goes for the rear speaker wires, all equal length if possible. It's not absolutely essential, but it ensures consistent sound. Monster makes some quality banana plug add-ons. I have the screw-on ends and they work great. Any good quality, at least 18ga, wire will do just fine, especially for the longer runs to the rear speakers.

Banana plugs are the easiest, followed by spade lugs. Personally, I would never just use bare wire unless I had no other option.

yea i wouldn't want to use bare wire either. what are some good banana plugs to get? i know monster is over priced but i saw some that looked pretty easy to set up... http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1051384782167
also what is some good speaker guage... i have been thinking probably 14 guage. that seems to be what i hear about most. the longest i will need to run one of the speakers is about 15-20 feet |

The best option for banana plugs is to get them from
http://www.monoprice.com/home/index.asp You've probably seen people recommend Monoprice for HDMI cables but their banana plugs are also very nice for the price. |

Provided you don't go for the really crappy bell wire stuff that el-cheapo speakers come with, the wire gauge isn't really important (there's more to cable quality than just the gauge of the cable).

...and stick with banana plugs, cheapest you can get, Monoprice... you should be all set from there. |

12-14 gauge wire from Home Depot works fine and is probably the cheapest solution available. I can't recommend Monoprice wire as I found it to be very cheap quality. It rotted on me three months after buying it.
