Let me guess how this thread will turn out:

• Movies too old
• Movies too new
• Too expensive
• Too heavy for shipping
• Too much junk
• They can't release these individually fast enough?
• Box looks stupid
• Listed wrong everywhere
• Isn't listed fast enough
• Isn't listed in enough places
• Isn't shipping fast enough
• Pre-orders are too late
• No info on Blu-rays
• No info on region releases
• No digital copies
• No slipcovers
• Wrong size case
• Others will have digital copies so what a waste
• Not enough content
• Cover art sucks: (not original cover or same ole cover)

I think titles like On the Waterfront and The Lady From Shanghai are pretty strong contenders. Guess Who's Coming to Dinner? is another one, as is Kramer vs. Kramer. Would also love to see La Bamba included in the next set as well. So that's '40s, '50s, '60s, '70s, '80s....and for '90s I'd say either A River Runs Through It or Little Women.

I'd laugh if The Lady From Shanghai got a UHD as Kino only just announced their Blu-ray.

Lmao came right back here to say the same thing. Just saw the announcement for The Lady From Shanghai.

Very very surprised that went to Kino.

Until a UHD gets announced, I'm good with my Indicator LE.

Mysterious Island (1961)

Gonna go ahead and crib Easy Rider + Punch Drunk Love + A River Runs Through It from you guys.

After scrolling through Columbia pictures releases on wiki, I don't really know what's what.

Tbh I don't think Easy Rider will be included as it's already received a UHD release in the UK.

I feel like most fans of the movie who want it on 4K have already grabbed the UK edition. It's not expensive either.

I'd be kind of annoyed if they put that movie into the next collection, if I'm being completely honest. I'd rather them include films that haven't yet received a 4K release. I feel like if anything, it would get a standalone UHD over here.

Think the Kino Insider said Sony put Lady in their 4K surveys after they had already asked for it, and denied Kino 4K rights. So I could see them keeping it for themselves.

Here is a handy list of Columbia titles which either won or were nominated for Best Picture:

http://www.reelclassics.com/Studios/...bia-awards.htm

Some titles from that list which aren't often mentioned but I would love to see:

The Caine Mutiny
A Man For All Seasons
Five Easy Pieces

I guess Sony themselves have dropped clues in the book which accompanies this set. The books contains quotes from several films . Most of these films have been released as a part of the Columbia Classics collection and few of them have been released on 4K on a standalone basis.

My guess is the ones whose quotes are present in the book and have not had a 4K release should be a part of Columbia Classics 4K collection. These are

Awakenings (1990s)
On the Waterfront (1950s)
Tootsie (1980s)
Talladega Nights - the Ballad of Ricky Bobby ( 2000s)
Captain Phillips (2010s)
Easy Rider ( which has a UK release but not a US release if I recall correctly) ( 1960s)

One from each decade.

That, we can safely say , would be the content of Columbia Classics Volume 4

I think there's a way they include Easy Rider: re-encoding it with Dobly.

Hope and Glory is now under MGM, so I highly doubt they would add it

As for my picks (one is a repeat of others, but some are new)

Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936)
Bye Bye Birdie (1963) 60th Anniversary
Kramer vs. Kramer (1979)
Das Boot (1982)
Sleepless in Seattle (1993) 30th Anniversary
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009) Hey, Gotta give animation some representation here

In regards to bonuses, my best bet would be the short lived 1969-70 sitcom version of Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (there's also the 2002 version with Adam Sandler, though that might be pushing it a bit far)

It depends on where it is available. Sony released it on Blu-ray in Europe.

City Slickers is now under MGM and Warner Bros. (the former for physical media and the latter for digital and TV), there's always a chance for a Shout! Selects 4K tho

I wasn't even aware Sony still owned it outside of North America

Yes, Sony released it on Blu-ray in the UK before Olive released the disc in the US. It is probably the same transfer.
