Universal Studios The Odyssey (2026)

UPDATE (12/23/2024):

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Quote:
After sweeping the Oscars with his smash hit Oppenheimer, Christopher Nolan looks to be returning to the studio that helped him win those Oscars, and he’s bringing along one of his A-list stars to lead the ensemble.

Sources tell Deadline that Nolan is returning to Universal for his next film, with plans for an Imax release on July 17, 2026, and that Matt Damon is in talks to star. The date falls in line with a number of Nolan films that have had similar release dates in the past. +

Thank god. I want new and original from Nolan

Interstellar and Oppenheimer are in my Top 6 all time (possibly top 5, haven't really fleshed it out in a while)... and I get Oppenheimer is based kn a book, but I feel with Bond there really is so much latitude you get before it becomes just another Bond movie.

Not just a book, but a real person.

Not a great source, but I was thinking we were due a new Nolan film announcement. It’ll be interesting to see what he has going on now he seems to have hit the peak of his career. Is he going to go for another ‘Tenet’ type gonzo blockbuster, or is he stinking to his new prestige found fame.

Wonder if he would go back to Warner after how they treated Tenet. Bet he stays with Universal.

Default Release The Prisoner

I have no idea what Nolan will do next, but hopefully the day arrives when his rumored adaptation of Patrick McGoohan's The Prisoner makes a break for it, with a mix of Cillian Murphy, Robert Pattinson and Aaron Taylor-Johnson at the top of the bill.

We don't know shit, it's just a rumor coming from a twitter user who posts box office numbers. And there's no proof he has any sort of "connections".

Saying Nolan will have a movie coming out in 2026 is about the safest bet possible, since he's been on a movie-every-3-years streak for over a decade, and the July spot is his lucky charm. That said until the project is announced or the Broccolis confirm a director for Bond 26 (which realistically should come out that same year), anything is possible.

Personally i hope for a more ‘sci fi’ ish type movie than another Dunkirk/Oppenheimer

But highly doubtful after his new ‘prestige’ status with his Oscar win on a drama.

There’s no better time now that he’s done Oppenheimer for Universal who own the rights and they’ll offer him anything he wants.

This.

And we've already got a sort of sci-fi version of Bond from him, Inception.

Christopher Nolan will have a new film out in the next few years. In other news, water is wet.

Nolan should reconsider because he was wrong and overreacted at the wrong time and Tenet sucked.

Same. Inception and Interstellar were peak Nolan IMO

He wasn't though. Everything he said about Warner and their treatment of its filmmakers ('They went to bed working for the world's best movie studio and woke up working for the world's worst streaming service') has come to pass when you consider Zaslav's antics since then.

In hindsight Nolan wasn't wrong to leave WB. It was just that when he was pushing to get Tenet out we were in one of the worst times possible: a global pandemic. Nolan pushed to get his film in theatres which might have been the a bad time to get a movie out since everyone was confused what was the best thing to do.

Pretty sure it was WB who decided to release it the middle of the pandemic and not Nolan.

His main problem with the studio however was the day-and-date strategy of releasing their entire 2021 slate on MAX, without consulting the filmmakers.

Slightly brainwashed/stoned looking guy(#1): So what's the title of this thing?

Slightly wired sounding guy(#2), but he's in a more expensive suit: You don't know what a title is?

#1) Not a title. The title. This title.

#2) [laughs] "This title". Always the right answer. Never the right question.

#1) I didn't answer.

#2) No. But you will. What if I told you the title has already been revealed?

#1) What if you told me that?

#2) Good question. Now here's the answer. What if I told you the title has already been revealed?

#1) .....

2#) You're not answering.

#1) Didn't you just say that was the answer?

#2) That's a bad question.

#1) I'm full of surprises

#2) Are you?

#1) Now that's a good question. [sighs] OK. Where has the title been revealed already?

#2) [gulps] I didn't expect you'd ask me that.

#1) I told you....

#2) And I asked you..

#1) "Touche"

#2) Who told you?!

#1) Told me what?

#2) "Touche"....
And so on, and so on.

I doubt it. Jonathan Nolan and Goyer are busy with their own projects now.

The band's no longer together.
