When Carpenter says 'We'll just have to see' that usually translates to 'Ain't gunna happen'.

At least it seems like a project he may be interested in. Not a "here's the check, Mr. Carpenter" situation that he is always very open about, so I'm sure he'd put it in that frame if true. I think that's what makes the new Halloween have such good buzz and positive response (seeing it tonight to finally find out!).
Even if it's a different director, I bet he'd be down to do the music! |

Not that I believe that there's any threat to this ever actually happening, but screw it all the same.
Carpenter needs to regroup with Walter Hill, Shane Black and Fred Dekker and get Shadow Company finally made. |

*GAAAAAAAASP!*
He's had a script for years at this point. Reeves could have done a touch-up though, and holy cow. I promised myself I wouldn't get excited for any "possible" new Carpenter movies after The Prince, Darkchylde, the Hilary Swank vampire one, and L.A. Gothic........ but They Live 2 is my most desired Carpenter flick after Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Escape from Earth. |

The time was '89, when it was supposed to be made and all those guys were still at their zenith. It would have been a PERFECT follow-up to They Live and a glorious capper to a decade they were all crucial in shaping.
I still don't know why it never went through, with all the excitement over the screenplay and the names involved. |

So happy to see a kindred spirit; I've been pimping the Carpenter/Hill parallels for a long long time.

I'm more interested in John Carpenter as a musician in 2018. If this ever happened I'd rather someone else directed it. I'm not saying someone better than Carpenter, because he's a an all-time great filmmaker, but he lost his ambition for making movies a good 20 years ago. Furthermore if a sequel to a JC film not called Halloween has to happen, I'd rather it be Snake Plissken finally getting his trilogy.

A They Live 2 would certainly be interesting to see in today's political landscape. It really does make me wonder how much the movie's world would've changed between then and now. I definitely also do wonder about how the score will go because I'm admittedly not impressed with Carpenter's works in recent years, although I have not listened to his new Halloween score so idk.

Leave it.
The leads are dead. Piper is really dead. No point |
