Default TCL to begin inkjet-printing OLED panels by year’s end

As long as the quality of inkjet-printing OLED displays is the same quality or better quality then the current production techniques, then this sounds like a good ideal to lower the manufacturing price on OLED screens so that more people in the world can afford them. China one day might convert all or most of their LCD manufacturing plants to OLED manufacturing plants.

“Inkjet-printing of OLED panels is beginning to pick up, with a new report stating that TCL will begin the production of inkjet-printed panels by the end of this year. According to The Elec, a South Korean newspaper, TCL CSOT will begin by producing a 21.6-inch 4K display panel designed for medical monitors.”

“The Chinese display maker will expand the number of OLED panels next year, while likely deciding whether to apply inkjet printing for Gen 8.5 (2200x2500mm) OLED panels–this has been called T8 Project and was first announced in 2020,” writes the newspaper.”

“Inkjet-printing has caught on in the industry over the last few years, carrying with it a number of benefits over tradition panel production means, namely the reduction of waste and lowering of production costs. The Elec reports that while TCL will begin using this method in smaller batches this year, production will continue to expand and ramp up through 2025.”
