Default Panasonic DP-UB159EB-K player

Hey, so last year I was on the hunt for a new 4K player and was shopping about but couldn’t buy that year due to money. I went in https://blu-raymultiregion.com and saw this for 249 pound (around my price budget). Is this a good player? Or should I get another. I’m looking for one which will upscale dvd and blu rays too. Thanks.

The free patch wont be for the 450 - the 420 maybe (different chipsets and firmwares). I wouldn't waste money on the 150/159 either. I have its older sibling the 450 and the drive started getting noisy after a few months so thats chucked to one side. My 820 is performing admirably though and it has much better build quality.

So the patch will be for the 820?

Most likely it should work on the 420/820 & 9000 as the same firmware files are used on each receiver. But there is no guarantee it will see the light of day. If it doesnt you could always get the rattlebyte mod fitted.

Great choice.

Peeps are hoping that the regionfreedom patch will be or can be made compatible with the UB450.

I just picked up a UB150 4K player complete with remote and wall power supply from a car boot this morning for £7. Works fine and looks to have been barely used. Already use a UB9000 as my main player but handy to have a spare.

What's the source on the free patch? Hadn't heard about it. Might upgrade to an 820 at some point if it happens. Wish someone could unlock DV on the 420.

I bought this player for the 43 inch Sony 1080P TV in the bedroom. It is wired but I haven't done any firmware updates and it has played everything flawlessly. Every BD100 that choked on the POS Sony X700 has played through without locking up or pixilating. The only nitpick is if you pause a UHD when you hit play it plays for three seconds and then pauses again for a second and the plays fine. It doesn't this for BD or DVD. Not bad for the $170 I paid for it.

Vincent teoh did a video on it. It actually doesn’t display the video like it is supposed to. Which is really weird. But things that are supposed to bright on other players are not on the 150. He used the x700 as an example side by side.
