Default What do you get???

Sorry to start a thread, but I got a 12 month free subscription from a hardware purchase that I haven't activated. But from what I've looked at, a subscription only covers their original content, which at abour a year after the service started amounts to stuff I could count on fingers and toes. And of which I'm interested in amounts to one movie and two 10 episode series

I can see why they dropped the trial to 7 days. Even without the 12 months free, I'd exhaust my interest in under a week.

Am I missing something? Is there other non apple made stuff you get? I mean all these other come lately streaming services did have actual other content, old stuff, other series they license. Each place I look at for apple gives you nothing of note. It looks like the worst example of a streaming service I've seen.

I am missing something, aren't I? It isn't this sparse what you get with it.?????

Ouch. Incredible. I really could see everything I wanted in a 7 day trial.

That's why they are so generous with the 1-year trials ...

I will say though that some of their original shows are very good.

I got Apple TV+ free for a year right from the beginning (because I bought a new iPhone) and they extended that till February.
But TBH I have yet to see anything that either appeals to me....and the stuff that did soured me as it went along.
I couldn't sit through episode 1 of "The Morning Show", that Reese cackling, yelling in the first few minutes totally turned me off.
I watched the entire season of Servant, of which the ONLY actor of any character in the whole series was the "fake baby".
I LOVED the original "Amazing Stories" so I was very excited to see the reboot, again another series trying to forward a woke agenda as opposed to telling a compelling story...stopped after the third episode.
Ghostwriter was just...plain...stupid.

I'm glad I got this free, cause IF I had to pay for this, I'd dump it like a bad habit.
Needless to say I will NOT be renewing my subscription.

What other shows have you tried? The ones that I liked best are:
- Defending Jacob
- For All Mankind
- Home Before Dark
- Tehran

Also, try the movies Wolfwalkers and Greyhound. Some of their documentaries are also good.

Sorry, none of those titles even slightly appealed to me. Different strokes for different folks I guess. FAM, why would I be interested in a alternate reality? We kicked the Russians a***s in the space race, I liked THAT story!

I still keep checking. What an utter joke. If I purchased anything I was interested in in iTunes, it'd cost me maybe 40.

I honestly feel sorry for the production teams that get their stuff sold on these wanna be services. All they do is limit their market. And it is even worse than that as they don't even sell their meager content on iTunes or other stores. Like some of these other dead ones. Or even youtube red. They sell Cobra Kai to Netflix and suddenly it is popular.

Yeah, I don't think Apple TV+ is all that popular, niche market at best. They should have either waited a year, or bought some content from MGM/Lionsgate to fill their available titles and at least make it worth the $5.

......well, at LEAST it ain't Quibi!

Well, there might actually be some hidden catalog stuff there. My wife and I were going to watch the Long Way Up and we thought we'd see where we could see the original miniseries. We searched online and one of those where to watch sites said Apple TV. So we searched, and sure enough it was on apple tv plus - but I didn't have to pay for it, like other series I'd buy on iTunes.

I haven't paid anything for Apple TV+ yet, since I got it for free with some device I bought last year.

There are a few good things on it and the streaming quality is very good I find.

I can see myself paying 5 bucks a month for it when my free subscription runs out, because there is a ton of content being produced for it that will be coming out in the future. I think that the catalog that they have today will look a lot different in say 1 year from now, due to all of the new things that will get added. I can read about some new series or movie getting added almost weekly.

I'm most looking forward to the next installment of Band of Brothers. Foundation looks interesting too.

I have to say Apple TV+ is a case of quality over quantity, where you could watch anything at random and not find something as awful as Netflix's Another Life or any number of Bruce Willis and Steven Seagal DTV stinkers.

I think one of the reasons they gave a year trial is because they knew their offerings were limited, but as someone above stated, what is there is high-quality. Ted Lasso is the best new comedy "on TV" in years. Servant is very good. There's Central Park, Defending Jacob, Little America, and Mythic Quest all of which are worth watching. Looking forward to checking out Physical, The Mosquito Coast, and Invasion.

Their new releases have really sped up quite a bit. It's starting to look like a real streaming service. I just started watching Home Before Dark season 2 (looks great so far) and am particularly looking forward to Foundation, Invasion and Morning Show season 2.

My free year runs out soon, but I plan to keep it for now both for the originals and because I have the Paramount+/Showtime channel bundle for $10 that requires ATV+.

I'm sorry I don't concur with that opinion at all, with all due respect. I found Apple TV+ to be permeated with "woke" political correct garbage that found its way into every show I watched from "The Morning Show" to "Servant" to the "Amazing Stories" reboot. When I watch TV I WANT to be entertained, not preached to, if I want to watch a preacher, I'll watch Jimmy Swaggert or Dr. Gene Scott. The cackling of Reese Witherspoon bothered my ears in ep 1 of TMS, I watched the first season of "Servant" it was devoid of ANY acting whatsoever...except the "fake" baby which was the only Oscar performance IMO. By the end of season 1 and the "baby-pate'" I either hated every character or rooted for their destruction. "Amazing Stories" was neither a shout-out to the original, which featured some of the best cinematography ever in a TV show, nor did it have "stories" worth my time or effort except for the time-travel one in the beginning....the rest simply "woke" garbage i can do without.

I cancelled my "first year" before it was up. As much as I like and prefer Apple devices, their streaming service had little to no content that either appealed or generated any interest for me whatsoever.

The Morning Show was ok. I can understand why someone who is super conservative in their life wouldn't like it. I enjoyed it ok. I am a middle of the road person.

We get Apple TV+ with our bundle of content (Music, Storage, Fitness, Games, etc) and it's been good for us. My kids love the Snoopy & Peanuts movies & shows. I enjoy the show, 'Slow Horses' the most - Gary Oldman is fantastic. Ted Lasso is the best comedy currently on television. Tehran is hit or miss depending on the episode. Suspicion is really good. Pachinko is well done. Long Way Up is a great catch up with Ewan McGregor and his motorcycle adventures. Coda was one of the best movies of the year. Finch with Tom Hanks was another great movie.

Yes, it's all about taste. I believe it's well worth the $4.99 a month. There's a lot of content on there - not the amount on Netflix or Peacock or Paramount - but plenty of stuff to explore.
