Stargate: 30th Anniversary - Blu-ray Forum

Bit of a childhood favourite of mine and of course it spawned the excellent series so with 2024 being the films 30th anniversary surely a 4K UHD is in order but I know that different studios have rights to it in different countries which could cause issues but I really hope it appears.

It says MGM was the production company, but wasn't it these companies that produced it and MGM the distributor?

Carolco Pictures
Le Studio Canal+ (Parent company of StudioCanal?!?)

Distributed by
MGM/UA Distribution Co. (United States), which is now owned by Amazon.

One of my first DVDs, one of my first Blu rays, even double dipped when Lionsgate re-did it. One of the many 4k UHDs I want from older Lionsgate discs like The Arrival, Ninth Gate, Swingers. Don't even know if they control some of these anymore but wish they could make it happen

According to an article posted on a German website a 4k release of Stargate could be happening later this year :

One of the best cinema experiences. The concept blew my little mind and the sound still echoes in my skull. Definitely a title that deserves the full 4K treatment.

I am in for this as well if/when it is released on 4K BD. Very enjoyable sci-fi adventure that I have seen several times on BD.

Lionsgate brought out Cutthroat Island on 4k this year, there's no good reason why they'd sit on Stargate for 4k release.

I don't think they have the distribution rights anymore, and I think they reside with Amazon in the US.

If MGM has the licenses then it would have to be a joint effort with Lionsgate or Amazon exclusive. With the latter happening about as much as Disney putting out some long awaited 4K UHD Blu-ray of another highly anticipated title like BIG TROUBLE little China!!!!!!!
