Should've included this in the upcoming Columbia Classics set, but an individual release will do.

Why? So people can complain about how it's the only one in the set they want and they hate that they've gotta pay for a bunch of movies they don't consider classics to get the one they do

I love this version ! It's a Christmas movie for me even though it takes place over many years, I always like the Christmas scenes and watch it at Christmas every year.

Can’t wait. Kind of surprised there is no Atmos mix.

Now please please please announce GO (1999) for 4K UHD

Stop playing with my heart.

Is this version better than the Greta Gerwig version?

Honestly think it’s a generational thing. My siblings and I prefer the 1994 version, but the kids prefer Gerwigs.

Little Women 94 was a favorite when it was released.

The cinematography should look great in 4K.

Love the Winona Ryder version, also love Trini Alvarado ever since Satisfaction.

This old dude prefers Gerwig's. IMO ultimately they're both faithful adaptations and good films. I can say that Gerwig's is perhaps a bit more modern in the way it deals with time transitions, and that could theoretically be a source of generational difference. But it's not hard to follow.

For many, IMO it's more likely that people just like the first version they saw, because the casting seems like how they've become accustomed to imagining the characters.

That's how I feel about Meet Me in St. Louis, it's obviously not a Christmas movie but it's the origins of "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas" so I feel like that overqualifies it lol

Always nice to see a one of Sony's BD-R get a 4K like Real Genius did. I'm still waiting on some of them to just get a normal BD release lol I know I've seen this but it's been decades so I don't remember much about this particular version. I also had been meaning to check out the PBS miniseries but never got around to it.

Great News. I've been complaining for far too long about Sony not releasing Little Women on 4k. Finally both the 1994 and 2019 versions are coming up.

Great news. Had a feeling Sony would do a separate release for it when it wasn't included in the Columbia Classics set.

Feels like they should've put this one in the set and released the Gerwig individually. But I'll buy both.

I always thought Sony should've released a "chick lit" box set with stuff like The Remains of the Day, Orlando, Age of Innocence, Sense and Sensibility, the two Little Women, etc., but they've pretty much released all the titles anyway so I can't complain.

I will absolutely be grabbing this one. Total classic. I personally don't think there's competition from the Gerwig film at all.

EDIT: I love how much larger Sarandon's name is than everyone else's, LOL

I don't know if you missed it, because I somehow did on first notice, but Winona Ryder's name is above those others, and it's even bigger lol.

But that would have meant 2 Winona Ryder films, made a year apart, in the one box set. I can see why that might seem odd. This seems like a good solution that can make everyone happy.

Obviously 'which is better' opinions are always subjective and personal, but for me this was a very rare case where I thought both adaptations were equally terrific, each different enough to stand on their own, and both worth owning and rewatching - for everything from the performances, to distinctive but restrained direction to lovely cinematography.

YMMV
