Default List of Oscar-Winners for Cinematography and Sound

The main selling point for UHD Blu-Ray and 4K in general is the superior audio/visual experiences you may experience compared to previous formats. Whether it be HDR or object-based audio or an entirely new remaster, the format has a lot to offer, if done right.

This thread is to showcase the movies that have won Oscars for categories that are beneficial to 4K: cinematography and both sound categories. Because the Academy is rewarding these movies for two of the main elements that go into a movie, you’d want to experience them in the comfort of your home theater. Note, this doesn’t necessarily mean that the releases below are “must-buy”, in fact, some have gained quite the controversy, but they are still worth considering if you want to experience the best of these technical production values.

UPDATE: The (*) on the right of a specific movie indicates that the release has the original, award-winning sound included. See HD Goofnut’s thread for more details.

UPDATE #2: Well, it finally happened. The Academy has decided to combine both Sound categories and Sound Mixing is back to being called Best Sound but with sound editors in the mix, no pun intended. I will still have these divisions for historical purposes and I will still keep updating the list when a movie has won for specifically Editing or Mixing. Note that for older years with only just Sound, I'll just assume they mean both Mixing and Editing. That also applies to the newer years.

UPDATE #3: The (DV) indicates a re-release that features Dolby Vision.
