Pretty decent cop film, with that particularly 80's Scott sleekness. After a price drop I'd pick this up.

Hope they manage to get a new or more recent scan. The film stylistically is very dark, the dvd transfer is rather rough due to that. This is going to complete my Ridley Scott Blu Collection! Looking forward to it! Shout Select usually has special features right? Wonder who they will get to be involved in those, Scott is a hard guy to nail down. Kino was unable to get him for a 1492 Commentary even though they tried.

I do believe this long-elusive title is the last Ridley Scott film to hit Blu; certainly cause for some rejoicing! I saw this at a sneak-preview screening back in 1987 and found the story to be pretty standard but damn, it is beautiful to look at. This was Scott's first attempt at a contemporary film and it was every bit as visually hypnotic as his previous THE DUELLISTS, ALIEN, BLADE RUNNER and LEGEND. Despite my misgivings about the plot and characters (I simply didn't find any of it especially interesting or exciting), I may have to pick this one up after all...early Ridley Scott has a visual sumptuousness I simply can't resist.

your opinion is dead on... haven't seen this for a very long time but that's exactly what I recall. Worth picking up on a sale for the visuals....

Was looking at my shelves this morning lamenting how few contemporary filmmakers with larger filmographies are complete on Blu-Ray. Just Spielberg, really. Scott's particularly frustrating, because he's only been missing this one (if you import "A Good Year"). Not any more.

Now just get me the rest of the Scorseses, Soderberghs, Eastwoods, Coens, De Palmas, Cronenbergs, Coppolas, etc and I'll finally be happy. Oh, who am I kidding, the more I get, the more I want and a true sense of completion will never come. This'll help, though. Haven't seen it since it was out theatrically, so I can't speak to its quality, but I can speak to the ephemeral feeling of contentment and peace I'll feel when I slide it into place.
