HDroom makes it official......

The Ray Charles biopic Ray starring Jamie Foxx as the famous musician and singer is coming to Blu-ray Disc on February 1, 2011.
Ray is confirmed to play on Blu-ray in 1080p video and 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio. Universal has not revealed Ray's bonus features yet though they are likely to be identical to those found on the 2008 DVD release, as listed below:

Extended Version of the Film
Feature Commentary with Director Taylor Hackford
Deleted Scenes
Extended Musical Scenes
Stepping into the Part
Ray Remembered
A Look Inside Ray

Now if Universal would take same appoarch as Warner Bros. and allow to swap your old HD-DVD's for a new blu-ray..that would be awesome.

Couldn't have said it better myself! I really enjoy this movie, and love the music of Ray Charles. Definitely a buy for me as well.

Blu-Ray Charles... nice.

Remember the DVD had a branched extended cut, but the extended scenes were non-anamorphic widescreen? Yeah, that was a bad idea.

Doesn't say anywhere about that on the press release of an extended cut for the BD

Those screencaps look lousy, especially for a film released in 2004.

Typical over-processed look, courtesy of Universal home video. "noise reduction and smearing are nowhere to be found." You have to be kidding.

I can't believe this site rated the PQ at 4.5 stars.

I agree. Based soley on those shots alone, it looks like an upconverted DVD. Mushy and lacking in detail.

Very nice review for Ray, I saw this in the cinema and enjoyed it. Not as good as Walk The Line IMO, but definitely worth checking out on Blu-Ray.

I enjoyed this film, but I never knew Ray Charles was such a douchebag so it was hard to look at him the same way afterwards.

You can say the same of countless other performers as well. Talent and kindness usually don't go hand in hand a lot of the time....sadly.
