The Blu-ray.com website must not have dual servers for 100% 24 x 7 uptime even during backups. The website must be running on one server instead of two or more. Almost every morning between 6AM eastern time, until somewhere around 6:30AM to 7AM eastern time I lose access to only the Blu-ray.com website and all other websites on the Internet are working. So, it would appear around 6AM to 7AM eastern time Monday through Friday there must be some type of scheduled maintenance where the website is down for up to an hour to do scheduled backup of data and maintenance. It usually does not go down on Saturday or Sunday. Also, sometimes the Blu-ray.com website maintenance is slightly off +/- 30 minutes or so.

I just corrected a typo in my original post, I met to say AM instead of PM. Sometimes the 6AM to 7AM outage is Monday through Sunday. Other times its Monday through Saturday. But I think you are right sometimes the outage is 5 minutes or 10 minutes instead of 30 to 60 minutes. A dual server would fix the issue but that might be too costly. I can live with the 6am eastern time outage and come back later. Glad to see other people are experiencing the same issue. No big deal since it lasts around 10 to 60 minutes for the scheduled maintenance. |

Now this morning at 6am eastern time instead of the Blu-ray.com website being down for 10 minutes to 60 minutes, it was only down for like 20 to 30 seconds. Its like the website switched over to a second sever. Since the outage was less then 30 seconds.

The daily backup should be like 3 minutes and on Saturdays we run some weekly backups so it’s a bit longer, like 15-20 mins.

This is the only site that shuts down for maintenance on a daily basis at the same time and it's annoying. 6 am is when I usually like to sit and browse the site and sip coffee while I get ready for work. 6 AM comes and bam! It goes down. Can't this be done at like 2 AM? Or, better yet, not at all? Nobody else does this.

6:00 a.m. for you is 3:00 a.m. on the U.S. west coast. It's also 11:00 a.m. in the UK! Boo-hoo for you that the site admins didn't schedule their maintenance window around your precious coffee time...Dumb! ![]() |

Dear Blu-ray.com staff,
Why is it on many mornings the website just randomly stops working at 6:00 AM EST? This almost always happens on Saturdays, but there’s been times it happens other days of the week, and sometimes even several days in a row. Is there a reason behind this? Is it something on my end? |

It happens at 11.00 am in the UK. Lasts a few minutes max.
It's normal. Someone asked the same question years ago and they were told it was just for maintenance I think. |

Any idea how long the July 14 outage will last? The homepage link got rerouted to some communities shit a while ago, where it stayed for a few weeks.

Assuming the site goes 'dark' on the 14th which was a preliminary date set by Iceman the length of outage is anyone's guess. All the info he gave is in this post.

Yes, it's scheduled downtime, as the link provided by DTSBOY indicates. Only lasts about 5-10 minutes usually, but seems a bit longer on the weekends.
Site admins gotta admin. ![]() Quote:
