Question samsung region coding?

I know this is going to sound nutz. Im sure someone has asked this before, I have a samsung BD P1000 with the latest FW. region A. purchased in the USofA

My question is : Will this also play BD movies from say japan? or other countries. I was at a coworkers friends house last night for a party, and saw that he was playing a japanese singer on bluray. didn't bother to ask if his player was purchased in japan.

THX in advance.

PS long time watcher first time poster.

Japan and America are in the same Blu Ray region.
Just watch out for the DVD reigons America 1 and Japan 2. However you could always use a normal DVD player if that is a problemfor DVD's. Firmware hacks to Blu Ray players are supposed to impossible, if you believe the Blu Ray Disc Association.

THX for the info. This is great news for me. Now i can start ordering bluray videos from japan. but ofcourse i'll start with just one just in case and go on from there. As far as DVD's im good to go since my mom sent me a player years ago.

I just reallized that i can watch Final Fantasy 7 AC even if its not released/ eventualy released here in the US! <DROOL>

THX again.
