![]() ![]() "South Korea’s top filmmaker, Bong Joon-ho has begun shooting Parasite, his first film since Okja which was backed by Netflix and debuted in competition last year in Cannes. It stars Song Kang-ho, Korea’s leading character actor. The film is a drama about a family of four, in which each member has unique characteristics. Bong says that, despite the title, the film does not include either parasites or alien creatures. Production started on Sunday. 'The film had been originally scheduled to start shooting in our studio on May 25, but was pushed back slightly,' a spokesperson from Goyang Aqua Studio, an outfit that specializes in underwater shooting, told Variety on Wednesday." That's correct. Humans are Parasites. My sensors tell me that I am very happy that I am just a robot.
![]() Seriously though, looks interesting. I'll definitely give it a shot. Is an underwater sequence being hinted at there? ![]() |

The writing on the poster says, "Happiness grows greater when shared," as if one was actually saying it to another person (as opposed to a blank statement)
I watched the trailer as well. 0:02 Mom- "All cell phones have been disconnected . . ." 0:05 Mom- "All wifi have also been disconnected . . ." 0:07 Son- "What do you think, dad?" 0:10 Announcer- "I don't think this is a fraud or a crime." (corrected from Son to Announcer) 0:13 Son- "Next year, I'm definitely intend to attend this university." 0:16 Announcer & In large letters on screen, "That is obviously a crime" (added Announcer) 0:22 Dad- "Son, You already have this planned/figured out!" (updated) 0:25 Announcer & In large letters on screen, "Does he, really?" (Added Announcer) 0:32 "Ki-Woo, the oldest son of a family of all unemployed, goes for a job interview for a high paying tutor" 0:38 Dad- "The timing is appropriate" ('good' updated to 'appropriate') 0:52 In large letters on screen, "New Family Comedy/Tragedy" 1:08 "Parasite" Certainly enough to whet your appetite. In short, it seems to be a story of a destitute family where the son has the brains + aspirations but no money. To earn the money the son lands a job as a tutor from a very wealthy family. The Dad starts getting wrong ideas about how to turn his life around. That's what the trailer seems to indicate. What's actually going to happen in the movie, of course, could very well be entirely different. Last edited by GRD43L; 04-23-2019 at 03:18 PM. |

So a movie called Parasite is an intriguing title, but then it's not about any parasitic creatures, or parasitic people? The trailer makes it appear to be a dramatic film.
Thanks for posting those video links. It's described as a Tragedy Comedy. Interesting. Hopefully at least the theme of what a parasite is, will be covered in the film. -------- GRD43L, thanks for those details. I wonder if one of the characters is acting like a leech, feeding off the earnings of his parents instead of earning a way of life on their own. That would justify the Parasite title better. |
