The Rocketeer Blu-ray Review

If you can’t count on the studios to fill you in on their upcoming releases, you can always look to Amazon to keep you apprised of what’s due to hit Blu-ray. And today my favourite e-tailer of all things high-def has posted a pre-order page for the Blu-ray edition of Joe Johnston’s The Rocketeer!! With Captain America: The First Avenger, his most recent WW II superhero adventure, a hit at the box office, it was only a matter of time before Disney saw fit to take advantage and get the director’s premiere 1991 Nazi-smashing cult hit out on Blu. There aren’t any details available on the page aside from the $26.50 MSRP and December 13th release date. More on this when we hear official word from the studio. In the meantime, check out the package art.

I love The Rocketeer. I had this on laserdisc back in the day. Glad it's getting the blu treatment it so rightly deserves. Day one purchase for me.

This news has made my day. I just caught The Rocketeer on SyFy HD over the weekend and thought to myself, "This really needs to hit blu-ray soon".

Can't believe it's been 20 years. wow. I remember buying the trading cards for this at the local pharmacy.

Might have to pick it up. Not an essential movie for me but I love films based in that time period.

Mixed emotions... happy because I LOVE The Rocketeer and I can't wait to see it again! Sad because THERE'S TOO MANY DAMN MOVIES COMING OUT THIS YEAR! I'm gonna have to discover gold or oil around my house pretty soon to keep up with this.

A very welcome surprise and thanks to the OP for the heads-up. I'd all but given up on this. This shouldn't really be a surprise with the tie-in to director Joe Johnston's Captain America and the recent anniversary screening of the film.

I had hoped to see some fresh cover art for this. For once I'm actually disappointed they went with the original poster.
