My buddy just got a PS Eye the other day, so I tried out the Video Chat with him. It was extremely laggy for the both of us-- going about 5fps and sometimes only audio would come through. The audio sounded fine for the most part.. Not too much lag but it came through clearly.
I thought the video chat was supposed to be like 30fps or something? What would most likely be causing this? Internet speed? I know the both of us have a pretty stable internet speed and I don't know why it would happen. Any info is appreciated.. thanks! |

It was an inexcusable amount of lag. I was thinking if his NAT Type was 3 he might be getting some connection lag, but I didn't get to ask him what it was. Only thing that it could be would be internet speed..

That's really weird, cause I did a video chat with my brother from Japan to Hawaii using a regular usb webcam on the PS3 and it worked pretty well.

Just plugged it in. I have a logitech usb notebook webcam with a built-in microphone. When I plugged it in, the ps3 immediately recognized the camera, and to get the mic to work, all I had to do was go into the accessory settings and set the mic to usb device.

I guess my Logitech Quickcam Pro 3000 is too old for the PS3.

I get pretty good framerates on my PS3 Eye when video chatting, on the few occasions that I've tried it. It really depends on how good your connection to the other person is.

I just set a family member up on the PS Network tonight, and had them add me-- so I'll give it a shot with them when I have a chance. I think they have the old eyetoy, but anything will work.
