Japan Rurouni Kenshin 4K UHD Blu-rays

Hi I noticed that the Panasonic DMR-UBZ1 is being bundled with two Rurouni Kenshin UHD Blu-Rays see link: http://panasonic.jp/diga/campaign/ubz1/ and https://www.avforums.com/threads/pan...japan.1992722/ (post 3 on forum page). Are they planning on releasing these two blu-rays for sale separately from the player and with English subtitles? Has anyone received these two titles and can comment on the quality?

This guy bought them through Yahoo Auction Japan.

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showpost.p...&postcount=210

They are also in blu-ray.com's database. If you check the backcovers (and know someone who understands Japanese), I think it says that it is only Japanese subtitles.

Wow, these must be the first triple-layer discs, too.

They were the very first UHD discs. Released in November 2015. So I doubt they are triple-layer discs.

No, they weren't. The player was released, but the discs were delayed several months. They must have started shipping out to Panasonic CLUB members who bought the UHD player in March 2016.

"1" = "一"

"2" = "二"

"3" = "三"

"層" = "layer"

Both back covers say that the discs are triple-layer (BD-100) in Japanese: "三層", as opposed to dual-layer "二層" (BD-50 or UHD BD-66), or single-layer "一層" (BD-25).

It looks like they were authored by Memory Tech in Japan in March (or possibly April) 2016:

Thanks for the info all. Hopefully Panorama the HK distributor for these films on Blu-Ray will port these over as UHD Blu-Rays as well. Their original releases of the trilogy on standard blu had English Subtitles.

The original JP disc trilogy did not have subs though while the Panorama HK discs did.

Thanks sorry the way I originally wrote that sentence. That was what I meant, that the panorama blu rays had subs while the original Japanese releases did not.

Very interested to know what they crammed on those discs since triple layer. Sure the movies is over 2+ hours but that alone, with one audiotrack and some extras shouldn't warrant över 100gb

Also strange they chose only two of three movies in the trilogy.

How much was this with the BD player... probably a lot if you have to get it from Japan.

Nope. I wish they were, but sadly they aren't.

My friend said there are two more films still to come out: a prequel and I think another sequel. She stated the prequel would have already been released if it wasn't for the pandemic, but I don't know too much about it so I haven't looked.

I'm wondering if it's worth it for me to pay $25 for each Blu-ray in the trilogy, or wait it out until the 4th & 5th films come out to see if they make a UHD boxset or something of the sort in the U.S. afterward?

Any update on these? I see Netflix streams three of the five movies. Any chance there will finally be an English subtitled 5-film 4K UHD BD set? Or is it still a pipe dream?

Didn't know that. Dang.

And chance for at least the first three with English subtitles instead?
