Looks like we are getting closer to The Crow (1994) releasing in 4K just in time for the 30th Anniversary in 2024. Paramount Pictures plans to stream it and that (hopefully) means a physical release as well. Paramount owns 49% of Miramax and were originally the studio distributing the movie back in 1994 but they sold it off to Miramax. Director of Photography Dariusz Wolski is overseeing the 4K transfer, he posted up a few images at the link below.

I've been wanting a 4K release of this film for years now. The Blu has been showing its age for a long time.

I have to confess to never having watched this from start to finish. My best friend was obsessed with it upon its home video release, however. I was always intrigued by his obsession, but not enough to watch it. Now may be the time...

My #1 most anticipated 4K UHD (well this, and Mortal Kombat ‘95). They would be fools to not put this on disc as well.

If done right this will look fantastic with a Dolby Vision remaster and Atmos audio track. I’d like to see City of Angels get the same treatment.

It's a shame Tim Pope never went on to make more feature length films. David Fincher went from music videos to getting his foot in the door with a poorly received franchise sequel and is still kicking along making great movies. From that generation of music video directors Pope really deserved the same career as Fincher.

I would like to have both.

'City of Angels' is used to land for me when I was a teenager. I haven't watched it in years but I liked the style, action, and soundtrack. I don't think it was anywhere near as bad as what people thought when it originally released.

Now, what we really need is 'Wicked Prayer' on UHD. Now that's a classic...

Vacillating between the joy of a potantial UHD release of The Crow and the devastation that it’s from Paramount. Just got to hope for the best, I guess.

Hope they finally give us an extended/unrated version with all the additional gore/violence that needed to be cut due to the MPAA and which has been seen in the deleted scenes for ages, already been inserted back into the scene/s.

Never understood why this hasn't happened during DVD times already.

Somewhere I have a rough cut of the film on VHS with some extended scenes such as more destruction to the arcade before the boys lit it on fire as well as the Skull Cowboy scenes. I have been a huge fan since the comic came out in 1989 and have known the creator James O' Barr for quite some time as well. He seems very pleased with the 4K transfer as well so it sounds like Paramount is doing things right. New material is expected but not sure if that is newly added scenes or extended scenes, my guess would be new interviews, etc.

Do we know where the rights of this film is at currently? Would love for them to reach out to Tim Pope and see if they can get a directors cut arranged all these years later. Weinstein's are out of the picture, so with some luck...

Hands down my most anticipated 4K release, this film single-handedly shaped my love for the gothic aesthetic. Was lucky enough to see this at the old Detroit theater in Cleveland Ohio when I was 9, it blew my mind wide open, been obsessed ever since. Would love to see a new 4K transfer of Dark City as well.

I hope we get the behind the scenes footage that seemed to have gotten blocked from every release. I'd even just take more of the deleted/extended scenes
