Quote:
This iconic horror film follows the obsessed scientist Dr. Henry Frankenstein (Colin Clive) as he attempts to create life by assembling a creature from body parts of the deceased. Aided by his loyal misshapen assistant, Fritz (Dwight Frye), Frankenstein succeeds in animating his monster (Boris Karloff), but, confused and traumatized, it escapes into the countryside and begins to wreak havoc. Frankenstein searches for the elusive being, and eventually must confront his tormented creation.

I want to see the art for these. I went through several box sets to try and piece together a good set, then placed them in the old BD editions with the nice art. If these had that, I would bite yet again, like I will for Star Trek films. If they go with the generic arts like they have in recent years, I won't bother.

Well, I'll be getting these for the 4K film, but glad I hung on to my Blu-ray singles with the original poster art.

I hate Steelbooks. They're generally overpriced and lack the movie details that are printed on standard covers. They're also heavy and bulky. And, despite being "steel", they're fragile and prone to damage.

Agreed 1000%

I never purchase them for that very reason. I had Steelbooks early on in the Blu-ray lifecycle and had a bunch begin to rust on me. Started off as little black dots on front cover that became more rough and coarse as the years went on and the spread got worse and worse.

House was always temperature controlled and no dampness whatsoever.

Just give me regular amarays and I'm happy. Slipcovers also annoy the hell out of me and immediately get torn and recycled.

Totally agree. Blu-rays in a tin. I bought a Steelbook season of Game of Thrones (because it was a great deal), but couldn't extract the discs. I had to get the toolbox out & destroy the steelbook & re-case the Blu's. Mediabooks on the other hand are great. America seems to have stopped doing them, but Germany releases quite a few.

I'd be down for these if Universal uses the original posters. If not, i'll just wait for the eventual legacy sets. :P

Looks like it's the same funky art as on the steel books.

Do you mean something like this? I'd prefer that too.

Yes haha. That would have been killer. But that won't happen, unfortunately.

Love this poster. Bought a copy when I went to universal studios a decade ago or so, I still have it in my entranceway. My 2 years old daughter always says hi to Frankie on our way out (she has the same stuff toy too). I plan on showing her first Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein first in 2 years or so and then the classic universal monsters. I am so excited to revisit those with her (and hopefully my younger daughter too, if she likes monsters as much as my older one does).

I sure hope so.

I wonder if the picture of the Scandinavian release posted above is just a mock-up place-holder as was done initially with the Vol. 2 set picture.

Since I'm pretty sure they'll probably do some kind of Legacy set for each monster like they did with the Blu-ray issue, it seems kind of odd that they would use the Legacy artwork for the individual releases.

For the record that’s a re-release poster on that cover.

Yeah Universal does weird things. One thing that bugs me is the picture of Frankenstein on the 4K set, its from Bride, not the original, odd.

Ehh I’m still kinda waiting for these covers to make a comeback.

[Show spoiler]

And typically I’m more prone to OG posters myself.
