Default BTOOOM! Gets A Multiplayer App Game

Quote:
Btooom! manga creator Junya Inoue announced during an autograph session last Saturday that a Btooom! game app has been green-lit. Inoue also unveiled a visual for the game, which reveals that the game is a multiplayer game.

Inoue's original manga centers around Sakamoto, a NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) young man and a top-ranked player in the online combat game Btooom! One day, he wakes up on a tropical island without remembering how he got there. He sees a figure in the distance and asks for help. However, the figure responds by throwing something at Ryūta — a "BIM" bomb.

Inoue launched the series in Shinchosha's Weekly Comic Bunch magazine in 2009, and then transferred it to Monthly Comic Bunch in 2011. Shinchosha shipped the manga's 18th compiled book volume on September 9. The manga entered its final arc in April 2014. Yen Press is publishing the manga in English, and it released the 11th volume on August 18.

Kotono Watanabe directed a 12-episode anime adaptation of the series in 2012. Crunchyroll and Anime Network streamed the anime as it aired, and Sentai Filmworks released the series on Blu-ray and DVD in 2013.

Will this count as a continuation of the story? I actually liked BTOOOM! and thought it was doomed to be forgotten. Good to see Joker Jun still working on it!

I always thought that if a BTOOOM! game was ever made, it would be on like Xbox 360 or Xbox One because of the game in the series. But I guess they figured making it as an App game may possibly mean more Japanese fans to play it. Though a game like this would probably feel like it should be on a console just like in the series.

Did this app ever come to Fruition? I've Read Comments of people saying if the app did well they would make another season. I know its a pipedream. but its my pipedream.

Had a decent start but then after a few weeks it was like people forgot it even existed.

It has always baffled me how the popularity of Battle Royale games like PUBG and Fortnite didn't lead to a second season of this show getting greenlit. Especially considering Fortnite is the biggest game in the world. Japan businessman sleeping on that one for sure.

Well, the anime didn't exactly sell well. The production committee: Flying Dog, Klockworx, Showgate, Shinchosha, Studio Mouse, Sotsu
https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/BTOOOM...83%83%E3%83%95

Flying Dog which led the committee was the publisher for the Blu-rays, and well... Averaged 338 copies per volume.

Any manga sales boost (no idea if it got one or not) didn't mean that much as the manga publisher was in the middle of the production committee. It doesn't surprise me that a second season was never greenlit.
