The headline says "shocker," but I see it as the opposite. Too many streaming services have prioritized subscriber growth above all else (including profitability), and now we're seeing the inevitable contraction start to take place. Within five years, I wouldn't be surprised if we ended up back with three dominant streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, and a consolidated Hulu/Disney+) that license content now appearing on platforms such as Paramount+, Peacock, etc.
