Thumbs up

Wow.

It's not like they haven't been out there pretty aggressively for the last couple of months or so anyways, but if they're going to turn it up even more?

Watch out!

Love how the designers have spiderman's hand leading your eye to "COMNG SOON TO BLU-RAY DISC."

With the Blu-Ray stories that have appeared during the past week, I have a suspicion that when Blu-Ray gets rolling, HD-DVD won't know what hit it.

I don't own either and don't have a preference for a winner at this point, but it seems to me Blu-Ray is about to explode on the scene.

they need to get their [stuff] straight and release spiderman and spiderman 2 soon. Theres several movies i never bought because I knew I would own it on bluray. Those are two, and of course revenge of the sith.

I noticed that all of the pix of characters are on movies that will be BD-exclusive. Am I wrong?

I think Fox should release the Die Hard Trilogy. They are the perfect Christmas movies.

Quite the contrary. I feel pretty damn good about HD in general right now. May the best format win fair and square.

Just as long as they release some of those movies soon.

I will say that only today I preordered at Amazon Superman, Superman II and Winged Migration (I really hope Sony uses AVC for it, but I doubt it) and I don't even have a player yet. It will probably be a while until I manage to find a PS3.

Default Blu-ray and HDDVD duking it out on discoveryHD

Just saw the Blu-Ray commercial, then next round of commercials an HDDVD commercial (same one with the helicopter) but now at the end they show the HD-A2 and then immediately followed by a ps3 commercial.

Blu-ray backers appeal to HDTV set

High-def cable spots target early adopters as PS3 launches

By Susanne Ault 11/20/2006

NOV. 20 | Blu-ray Disc backers last week launched a cable TV, print and online campaign designed to reach HDTV owners and other early adopters at the start of the holiday shopping season.

TV ads bowed Nov. 17 on high-def cable outlets including Discovery HD, INHD and HDNet. Ads also are running in targeted print magazines including GQ, Popular Mechanics and Wired and on such Web sites as CNET, PCWorld, GameSpot.com and ESPN.com.

The campaign coincided with the retail launch of Sony’s PlayStation 3, which put hundreds of thousands of new Blu-ray movie players in homes and as such is expected to jumpstart sales of Blu-ray compatible movie titles.

Images and clips from studio feature films, including Warner Home Video’s Superman Returns and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment’s Fantastic Four, play a starring role in the campaign.

“This kind of promotional effort is unprecedented,” said Peter Staddon, Fox executive VP of marketing. “The fact that such a large group of industry heavyweights support Blu-ray Disc is good news for consumers who want to be assured that Blu-ray is the format choice by industry leaders...”
