Great cast. Looking forward to Maggie Gyllenhaal’s direction. Thought this would be some regular drama when it was announced, but thankfully it’s more up my alley in the mystery/thriller department.
Release date: Dec. 31st on Netflix (earlier in theaters) |

What some are calling one of the best films of the year is now on Netflix.
What a nice end of year treat from the streamer. |

Very good film. Superb character study of a struggling mother. Colman and Buckley are terrific. The ending, is hugely open to interpretation but I have my own thoughts on it which I won't spoiler.
Hard to believe his is Gyllenhall's directorial debut and not the output of a Director with tens of films under his or her belt. 8/10 |

Lordy, I thought MASS absolutely blew PASSING out of the water. I have no idea, other than the taboo subject matter, why the hell Passing is getting such rave reviews.
It takes subtlety to the point of boredom. It was fine, but that's it. Mass was a powerhouse. Haven't watched The Lost Daughter yet, but it's not doing well among men, and that's all these message boards are, at all. That being said, it's a film made by a woman for women. You don't see women giving Lost Daughter bad reviews much. WHEW -- that was a lot on 3 movies on 1 thread. ![]() |
