Default Heaven's Gate Digibook

Hi, I have some questions on the German Heaven's Gate digibook.

This site mentions 2 cuts of the film. I would think that one of these cuts was on the DVD and one on the BD, however if anyone who has the site could confirm this, that would be great. I'd prefer both cuts on the BD via seamless branching, but I doubt it will happen. I personally want to watch the shortest cut possible as the idea of a 3 and a half hour film does not thrill me.

The release consists of three discs: 2x BD + 1x DVD.

BD 1: Director's Cut 216:54
BD 2: Recut / Theatrical Cut 154:05
DVD: Director's Cut

So no extras, but there's two cuts? I'd definitely pick that one up!

Just ordered this on a whim

can anyone confirm if the film has any foreign dialogue scenes in the film and does the BD feature burned in / player generated subtitles for those parts please

I just (finally) grabbed this. I've been trying to find the original edit and was excited that this package had it included. Well, sort of. It's a re-suturing of Cimino's edit but has the redone color correcting and pulls the intermission. Also, very frustratingly, it doesn't have the subtitles for the "foreign scenes." (When Avril is riding past Eggelston and his wife, she is berating him. In the original edit in theaters, there were subtitles.)

Frustrating release for a fan of the film who saw it multiple times during its initial few weeks run. Pulling the intermission is heartbreaking as it was beautifully done and now is a terrible jump-cut. Sigh.

That's MGM's doing, regrettably. It's the same master MGM HD has showed for years.

No, that's one of the changes Cimino made to the 2012 DC (such as reversing the tracking shot of Averill's fiance at the window in the prologue). And there's not been a version on Blu or DVD with the original freezeframe ending from the 70mm version (which has other slight differences from the pre-DC 219 min VHS & DVD versions).

I'm sure you are right on all of that, I just know the Intermission was missing from MGM HD's broadcasts of the "theatrical" version -- and those broadcasts definitely predated the 2012 Director's Cut. I assumed this was the same master that was floating around for at least a decade, seeing as basically everything that aired on the MGM HD channel were mostly the same masters that comprised all of the Blu-Rays they licensed out.

Apparently the 219-min version with the intermission is available in HD on iTunes and Amazon Prime.

Does the standard edition

https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Kris-Kris...9284857&sr=8-1

have english subtitles?
I'm asking because on this website linked above it shows as having them

https://ssl.ofdb.de/view.php?page=fa...661&vid=450403

but on the back cover it only mentions german subtitles.
Thank you

Are all the extras in English? This seems to combine the Criterion and Second Sight extras.

I've just read this, probably you know by now... anyway, both the German releases are English-subtitled as per Caps-a-holic and DVDCompare (and this site too). Try to check these sites next time.

It's a "fusion", but the German disc seems to miss "Final Cut: The Making and Unmaking of Heaven's Gate", featured on the SS DVD. The Criterion is still the version to get PQ-wise though.

ps. however, this terribly needs a new scan/transfer... it's a macroblocking nightmare in some sequences...

This has been asked couple of years ago but does this release have english subs:
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/Kris-Kris...9284857&sr=8-1

Dvdcompare and capsholic mention English subs but they are referring to the 3 disc limited edition from Capelight. It does happen occasionally that a standard release has different subtitles.

Did anyone end up buying the above release?

Don't own it (got the 3 Disc edition), but English subs are confirmed here:
https://www.ofdb.de/fassung/1661,450403,Heaven's-Gate/
Also confirmed in the post just above yours.

No indication of English subs on the sleeve, though. They were not listed on the limited edition either.
