2023 most anticipated game? - Blu-ray Forum

I think next year is looking to be more stellar than 2022? (even though Sony player's been eating quite well with GT 7, Forbidden West, Ragnarok this year).

For PS5, 2023 has Black Myth: Wukong, Hogwarts Legacy, Forspoken, Spider-Man 2, Lies of P, Final Fantasy 16, Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty, Dead Space, Alan Wake 2, Re 4, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, PSVR2 release with Horizon Call of the Mountain and anything else that could get announced in the meantime from Sony.

I'd say for me Final Fantasy 16 just about edges everything. Game will be another one of epic proportions.

I am putting Wu Kong in a wait and see box. Its an extremely ambitious tech showcase that grabbed people and i don't know if the studio have the chops to pull off that ambition and we have been burned before.

I also don't have VR and won't be buying the PSVR2 i think soon. So those titles will be great to see for that crowd, but it's niche and moreso a curiosity to see how they review with the new tech.

I think Spider-Man 2 is the only real exclusive maybe given a 2023 release i would be happy for but i genuinely cannot think of any Sony 1st party titles for PS5 only confirmed for 2023. Dare i speculate Sony is probably planning a release for PS4 now that they manged it with God of War Ragnarok etc.

Well...it WAS NCAA College Football until EA delayed the damn thing to 2024!

There are some interesting games in the lists, thanks. I'll keep them in mind.

Stellar Blade (Project Eve) looks interesting. I'll consider it.

Will probably get Marvel Spider-Man 2 even though it's more of the same. I wouldn't mind if they set it in a different city but Parker lives in NYC.

Suicide Squad might be okay. Rocksteady is a solid developer with Arkham Batman games.

Silent Hill 2 remake could be interesting with better controls and new graphics and voice acting.

Star Wars Jedi Survivor, I'll probably wait for a big sale, as the first game is decent IMO.

Fernbus Simulator in 2023, lets you drive over something like 40,000 km of roads with the ability to hop out and walk around in Europe. That sounds relaxing for a game IMO, while others might be bored out of their minds by it.

Forspoken, I'll wait for 19.99 or so. No way I'm paying 69.99.
Hogwart Legacy, I'll wait till it's on sale but I like the fact you can go wherever you want in that landscape and castle. That's cool.

There's that other game where you explore an open map as a Samurai Warrior that looks interesting. I forget the name.

I would've been interested in Avatar Frontiers if it had an offline mode, but it's online only.

Black Myth Wukong looks interesting.

No word of Wolverine PS5 yet. Probably will be an action game.

Starfield is only available for PC and XBSX... Microsoft buying Bethesda was great to isolate one of the better developers to the competition consoles...

Test Drive Unlimited Solar Crown is probably online only, so forget it if so.

These days, I have given up on tracking games for release dates, being so used to most games being delayed till months later and then when they finally release, wondering what the delay was for since most of them still need more work to fix issues. Nothing as bad as Cyberpunk 2077 though for PS4 thankfully.

Overall though, only a few games that could be interesting.

2023 is looking to be a fantastic year of releases for me personally. For PS5 games I’m torn between Spider-Man 2 and FF7 Rebirth. Since we have seen little to nothing of both games, for now I’ll give Spidey the edge but that can easily change.

The big question about the delay is EA making an entirely new engine to get rid of the problems with Madden. Usually EA used the same engine in the past. If it is a new Engine that fixes the problems and bugs that have existed for the past 20 years I will be extremely happy.

FF7 Rebirth I think is looking like Winter, which could mean 2024. If that comes out next year in addition to all the other stuff well damn.

A lot of games I’m looking forward for next year which will hopefully be good, but my most anticipated one is probably Atomic Heart. It looks adjacent to Bioshock in a way where the world seems familiar but uncanny, with some very cool world designs and superhuman abilities that will help you survive without making you overpowered. And the robots/AIs/enemies look phenomenal to along with the combat mechanisms. Most, if not all, of the preview gameplay I’ve seen looks quite good so far.
