Default Jigsaw (2017)

UPDATING THIS THREAD: TO SUM IT UP, YEAP! THERE'S GOING TO BE AN 8TH!

Quote:
The cast and crew are treating "Saw 3D," the seventh installment, as the final film in the popular "Saw" series. But actress Betsy Russell (plays Jigsaw's ex-wife Jill) just revealed to NY Post that filmmakers are not ready to end the franchise.

"Before we thought it was ending [with 'Saw 7'], the writers came up with an unbelievable idea [for 'Saw 8']," she said. "It's an amazing story that I would love to see."

Russell wouldn't talk much about the eigth film, but said if "Saw 3D" does well in theaters, Lionsgate will immediately greenlight another installment.

She added: "We want to end near the top, with our integrity in tact and not letting the characters die a slow death, so to speak. But I believe in my heart that someday, somehow, ['Saw 8'] will happen."

Anyone think that if Saw 3D makes a killing, Lionsgate will go down the path and explain
[Show spoiler]Dr. Gordon life during the timeline of films II - VI and post Saw 3D
?

Anything is possible. They can even try Saw in Space if they want to. But frankly, after 7 torture films, I'm sawed out!

I think Saw 3D is going to flop and the Saw franchise will be relegated to direct to video.

Who actually created the game in Saw 3D? The final game Jigsaw wanted Hoffman to carry out was revealed in Saw 6 with the box that was given to Jill from their lawyer.

If Saw 3D goes over $100 million worldwide, I'd say it's 90% likely we will see Saw VIII.

If they do make a part VIII, I'd love for it to start out right where VII left off and show Dr. Gordon walking out of the building the bathroom is located at. As he's walking out, you see a car parked with a person inside watching him as he's walking... with a voice saying:

"I see you Dr., I got ya now... I knew it was you this whole time..."

That person? David Tapp (Danny Glover). Just completely ignore the video games and make something new.

Too much of a good thing can be bad. I say just let the series end on it's own terms and be remembered as it is and not be killed by what could be awful sequels. Sometimes people just need to know when to quit and realize they had a good run.

They needed this advice before greenlighting Saw IV.

I've dug a few of the subsequent sequels (VI, 3D), but it's definitely gone downhill since the first three, IMO. Hoffman has never been an interesting character to me.

SAW 1 - 3 was the Jigsaw / Amanda trilogy

SAW 4 was suck ass filler.

SAW 5 - 7 was the Hoffman's "trilogy"

SAW 8 - 10 will be Gordon's trilogy if they press forward and can get Cary Elwes to sign on.

I say let it rest but they just have to keep going. Thats the only thing i dont like about horror movies is that most franchises will keep going till they are run into the groud ex.... Freddy, Jason , Halloween, Howling, Poltergeist, etc... The list can keep going. I know Lionsgate will keep it going as long as they make money but there has to be a point to stop or in 5 years we will be talking about Saw 12 hitting theaters.

Thumbs down 8 films?!?! Jeebus.

I've never liked the series. I was hardly impressed in Saw 1 when I knew the guy on the floor was not really dead. And all that crap with Amanda, ugh.

Too late for that. I guess she acted in Saw 3D but hasn't actually seen the finished movie.

What's the point by now anyway? The only way I'd even consider seeing a Saw 8 is if they brought in new screenwriters. The decision to turn the franchise into a horror comedy and lose the dark tone the original creators wanted made Saw 3D easily the worst of the films.

Its no wonder Kevin wanted no part of this, with the worst of the scripts (no doubt supervised by David Hackl) there was no chance of saving this mess of a movie, even with a competent director behind the camera.

Just what the world needs - more ways to see people get tortured.
