Default Star Trek in HD DVDs top 10 at Amazon

Boy I don't think I've ever seen it that high, my guess is some HD DVD zealot has some followers believing if they buy it that will show Paramount their support and they will stick with HD DVD.

There are no HD DVD in the top ten in Amazon sales rankings. Not sure what you are refering to?

I think your saying that the Star Trek series is in the "HD-DVD" top ten ranking and not the over-all high def ranking.

There are supporters of this series as you know who most likely want to buy this up before Para goes blu. Funny thing is that word has it that Para has been working on the blu versions at the same time, so can release these shortly.

Hopefully it will be at $80 when they go blu-ray, although I am not holding my breath.

Who in their right mind would buy this now? Being stuck with one season on HD-DVD when you will get them all on Blu Ray.

And, it's only available as a combo. So, DVD purchasers are buying it and its counting as an HD DVD.

Gary

P.S. And despite being cheap, it still only is managing to be #309 for DVDs.

I believe this set is made of combo discs, so they will also work in regular DVD players. And (for those who want it), I believe it's the enhanced version with newer special effects, which aren't on the regular DVD releases of the original series, so it kind of makes sense. But none the less, it does seem odd that it would be selling as well as it is when any future releases won't be on the same format and would probably look very different, etc.

I definitely love the clean up they did with the series but I'm still iffy on the added special effects. So even at $80 I don't know if I would buy when they are available on Blu

They did release the original series on DVD, but only in their original versions. That's what I was refering to.
