Interestingly this is Well Go not Universal (who NEON usually distributes through.) I’m worried the UK will go DVD only (or at least barebones BD), as it’s with Signature Entertainment here.

Hyped for this film as it looks like my kind of horror. All the showtimes are saying "uncut", makes me wonder if some theaters are showing a tamer version of this? Killer poster (perhaps my favorite image all year), hoping they keep the image in the original post above for the physical release. |

Yes, the 4k edition is "uncut" according to bioh but the "true HD" (Blu ray) isn't(?)....seriously wondering if anyone not sworn to a blood oath knows how to explain this? Last edited by nothingtofearmusic; 10-04-2020 at 10:09 PM. Reason: removed irrelevant content |

Saw this at my local drive-in last night, was a very cool experience. The film itself is very strange and the content can get pretty strong, but I definitely recommend it, especially if you like odd and cerebral films. It’s definitely like a puzzle and brings up some interesting concepts and imagery. The only connect is the directors, but I watched my blu-ray of Shivers the night before and enjoyed Possessor more.

I watched it this past weekend. It’s a slow burn but boy does it get insane. None of the characters are redeemable so at times it was a bit hard for me to care about what happened to them, but it was still a layered story and the directing and visuals were pretty good. It had quite a few cathartic moments but at the same time it gets really graphic. Performances were great across the board. Hard to recommend it due to how graphic it gets with no likable characters (this made it hard to get into the story for me), but if you know that and it still interests you because of the directing, visuals, and actors, I’d give it a try.
This Cronenberg definitely has a good eye for directing, I just wish the story had better characters. |

It’s definitely an interesting watch at the very least. And paying close attention helps because it uses quite a few symbolic/metaphorical sequences to signify a change in how the possessor and “possesse” change (won’t say more because it’s a spoiler). It’s also definitely disturbing and character development is good even if that development isn’t for the best. I’ll definitely watch out for what he directs next.

That sounds super intriguing, and gore doesn't bother me in the slightest. Thanks again for sharing your thoughts. ![]() |

![]() Just keep in mind it’s graphic violence as well as aberrant sex/nudity. There are a couple of scenes that are pretty much porn. And numerous others that are less graphic as well. Violence doesn’t bother me but disturbing sexual content sometimes does and this has plenty of it. I don’t mind films like Revenge because the morality of the characters is pretty clear cut (even if the main character makes some dumb decisions), but here the sexual content between people is quite bizarre and it has all these moral layers which you just end up realizing is about messed up people doing messed up things lol. Again, very well made film but it definitely merits a word of caution. |
