Default The 2012 Battlestar Galactica Fan Club Thread (NO SPOILER TAGS!)

NOTE TO ALL: This thread has now been changed to a NO SPOILER TAG thread, so posts will be OPEN and will expose many details of the BSG series, which WILL ruin the viewing experience for those who are still watching the series for the first time or have not watched the series at all. Reading this thread beyond this first page of posts will be AT YOUR OWN RISK OF RUINING THE SERIES!!

For anyone who has not seen the entire series yet, I would suggest frequenting these BSG-related threads, which both use generous doses of spoiler tags:

https://forum.blu-ray.com/television...er-thread.html

https://forum.blu-ray.com/blu-ray-mo...te-series.html

Hello all, it was suggested that someone start a new BSG Fan Club thread on the Forum, since there has been a recent flurry of new converstion here about the 2005 reimaged series of Battlestar Galactica that originally aired on the SyFy channel. Since the Blu-ray box set price dropped below $100 at many retailers during the 2011 Black Friday and Cyber Monday weeks, many of our members with no past exposure to the series have finally purchased it - some of them only after an onslaught of serious prodding by a couple of us BSG "oldtimers", namely myself and HAMP. I figured we can use this thread to consolidate some of our current BSG speak, and hopefully have an entertaining time of it as well...

Anyone who is already a big BSG fan, and has seen the entire re-imaged Battlestar Galactica series, is welcome to join in. Anyone who has not seen it or does not own it yet - we recommend you get it now at a great price - it is definitely a series worth it's weight in gold...!

Let me start off with a a few photos of my Battlestar Gallactica-themed 2008 Scion "Cylon" xD, which I modded 3 years ago to take to car shows. At the time, I was hooked on the BSG series so much, that I just had to do something...!

And, of course, it's not a real "Cylon" without the red Cylon Scanning Eye:

My wife and I are big fans of the series. So much so, our official TN state license plate on our Jeep is... well... just look at my profile pic to the left.

(And for "Farscape" fans out there... the plate on our truck is FRELL.) (But that's another thread.)

I've been a fan of the show since its inception and the complete series was one of my first Blu-ray purchases. Never got into Caprica though... looking forward to Blood and Chrome!

Another member and BSG fan on here recently told me he heard that Blood and Chrome may be downgraded to just a Web series only... no TV show. I hope that is NOT the case!

I seriously hope not myself, every time I hear this, I get disgusted in my stomach. We would lose everything in the HD department.

This series was amazing.

My main gripe about it is at the end of the series... that thing about Starbuck. People who have seen the finale know what I'm talking about.

Other than that, and a stretch of stand-alone Season 3 episodes that didn't progress the plot (probably some dumb executive's decision to do those ones), this series was nothing short of incredible.

I'm a new convert. Watched the entire series on netflix and broke down and got the boxset. I haven't been this taken in by a t.v. series in some time. I wish they got a couple of more seasons out of the series. The cast was top notch.

Well, not really - the scanning eye sound is just an Audio CD I made, playing on the car's sound system... good enough for car shows...

And yes, you MUST check out the series - if you like scifi series like Star Trek, Star Gate, Farscape, Babylon 5, etc... This will become your all-time favorite Sci-fi/drama Series, I guarrantee it!

I agree with all that. The Starbuck explanation was weak. And, those Season 3 episodes were a bit less interesting than the rest of the season. But overall - a stupendous series!!

We don't talk about those things. lol
I agree, that was some crazy mess.

What I did like about it, was Leoben/#2 starbuck stalker. When he seen her burnt body in that ship, did he or did he not run his azz off getting away from starbuck. He didn't come around her anymore after that. He wasn't that crazy.

Show a crazy stalker something crazier, and they will leave. lol

I just finished watching the whole series the other day on Blu-Ray. Saw it a couple of times on DVD, but the BD release was great (except for the annoying chapter spots... argh!).

The best part of the series for me? the last 15min of Season 3.. epic! "there must be some kind of way out of here", and the way the music starts to become clearer, then it gets louder as they all start walking out of the room one at a time.. I watched that three times before I moved onto Season 4.

Oh and the trial of Baltar, that was a fantastic episode!

Been a while - Is that where at the very end, the camera zooms out from the fleet way up into the universe, then back down to...

Same episode yep Someone on here mentioned they didn't like it, because they had never done something like that before, but after watching the whole series, there were a few 'zoom outs' of the ships to show the distance between them. I liked that shot as it gave the whole battle scene some perspective in the universe.. they are just a dot in the whole galaxy.

I thought that camera pan was awesome!

How could anyone not like that? Unless it gave them vertigo or something - or triggered a mild epilepsy seisure...

There are so many memorable moments in the series, but my absolute favorite moment in the entire series was ...

[Show spoiler]the rescue from New Caprica. There was awesomeness in the episodes after that, but I don't think they ever topped that.

I still get goose bumps when I recall the Galactica doing that free-fall into the atmosphere and launching the Vipers before jumping out of there.

I NEVER felt that kind of excitement watching a TV show before.
