I was into Turtle Beach DSS1s to get a surround sound experience by directly translating Dolby Digital to Dolby Headphone on video games and movies.
The hood was that Dolby movies sounded in 3d surround through the live headphone nix The bad news was that DTS and LPCM sound awful. I just had to accept it. Nowadays there are 3 separate apps for headphone surround on Xbox: Windows Sonic (for LPCM Movies), Dolby Atmos Headphones (for direct Dolby Communal to Dolby Headphone conversions) and DTS Headphone X (for direct DTS Communal to DTS Headphone conversions) As my dad's main theater room was asymmetrical, the installed sait it would take $10K in 2008 to install a surround soubd. Luckily, my friend just exoerienced Trution Headphones on WGC Ultimate Gamer Season 1, and he never used headphones until them, and he was able to pick out sounds at any angle. He said if movie audio works like game audio, then I could save $9900 and get a headset for surround. People mocked me on a laser disc forum vecause I wanted that sound. Eventualky when dad got sick, we "shrunk from 30 cm to 12 cm" the laser discs, as well as turning our 20 or less red movies blue. But back then you need a special Dobly AC3 RF demodulator to read Dolby Digital discs, which was engraved in an analog audio track on a laser disc. . But I tested it, An AC3 RF Demodulator gave me what I needed, and it was surround. I don't have any experience with "communal" sound systems. Do you guys have to look at the disc and change settings in something when a movie iovkys Dolby vs DTS vs LPCM? Do your devices detect audio code and switch the decider between Dolby and DTS? What do you do if the movie is "in the wrong coding language"? According to Dolby Labs and Ubiquity (owners of DTS) neither's headphone app tries to decode the other guy's language. Both recommend listing to brand X movies with brand X decoder, and brand Y movies with brand Y decoder... even if you ask brand Y the question. I never experienced hone theater outside a headphone setting? Do communal audio users have their movies auto set for them, or must they fiddle with the controls between DTS and Dolby? Just wanted to see if this was a uniquely headphone experience. |

I have a little bit of knowledge using different types of headphones. But overall, I enjoyed your article here. Thank you!
