Hmm. Even if I end up adoring TROS I don't know if I want to be getting it on UHD with an inevitable 9-movie saga set to follow. That said, Lucasfilm are bastards for not providing legacy bonus features on new sets so those extras discs for TFA and TLJ and possibly for TROS might not get carried over.

Will likely get this individually. I'm gonna try and hold off buying the OT since it won't be the originals (or if I get them, it'll be on sale). So Prequel Trilogy, VII, IX, and Rogue One individually on UHD sounds about right.
And nice to see there'll be a Steelbook but I loved Target's Last Jedi exclusive, so hopefully they do something similar for this one, too. |

This is tough.
I want to purchase TROS when the disc is released but already know three things. 1. With Disney+ I don’t have a need to buy the disc 2. Being I subscribe to Disney+, I will already own every Star Wars film in 4K 3. Eventually Disney will release their 9-film UHD box set. |

I'm in a similar boat -- with the same emphasis on "plan" -- but for me RISE will be the last NEW MOVIE that I plan to purchase. I still have some catalog titles I'm waiting for (cough cough UNBEARABLE LIGHTNESS OF BEING cough cough). I haven't bought a "modern movie" without STAR WARS or HALLOWEEN in the title for a long, long time. Last two discs were Criterion's MATEWAN and the UK import of John Cassavetes' SHADOWS. Hopefully discs like that will keep trickling out.. but RISE is it for new flicks. Modern movies (that don't have STAR WARS or HALLOWEEN in the title) don't hold any repeat value for me. You kids get off my lawn.

So Disnee has basically killed physical media? Heh, and there's some people wondering just why the Mouse would do such a thing despite all the money that they have personally spent on discs. All Disnee needed to do was get D+ launched (they waited to get yet more content, as Bob Iger said in a BBC interview) and it seems like that's that: discs are so last century, darling.

![]() That's kinda the thing though, it's almost like the movies themselves are inconsequential at this point in time. If they just released the steelbooks on their own (no discs, I mean) they'd probably sell as many. |
