I see that Enchanted will have it, what exactly is it?

It will use the Ethernet port on Blu Ray players to get more interactive content, the way that hd dvd does right now. You can stream bonus content, access online stores, stream movie trailers, etc. The PS3 should be getting this soon, and I HOPE with DTS-MA audio as well.

just as simple as connecting it to your computer via ethernet?

In a nusthell yes. You would still need to run a cable from the standalone player to an Ethernet jack for it to work. I see you have a 40gig PS3, which should do it wirelessly unless it doesn't(not sure I have the 60gig), then you would need to run the cable.
