King Hu's first major public success in Asia, Dragon Inn, established the reputation of this erudite and perfectionist filmmaker, who elevated the wuxia genre to the status of a true work of art. His next feature film, A Touch of Zen , a splendid three-hour epic, is considered his absolute masterpiece, with an undeniable influence on many directors such as Ang Lee (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon), Quentin Tarantino (Kill Bill: Volumes 1 and 2) and Jia Zhang-ke (A Touch of Sin).

UHD 1 - DRAGON INN (1967 – Color – 111 min)

The year is 1457. The tyrannical eunuch Cao Shaoqin orders the assassination of the Prince's tutor and Minister of Defense, Yu Qian, falsely accused of aiding foreigners. His three children are sentenced to exile from the country. But Cao Shaoqin actually plans to exterminate them along the way: he orders his two loyal commanders to prepare an ambush at the Dragon Inn, located near the border…
