Default Karate Tiger 2 (1987) BluRay

This was released by RetroGold/Shamrock Media on BluRay a few weeks ago.

Has anyone received their order? Also did any international customers have to verify their age with the website before having their order dispatched?

I was told by an eBay seller in Germany it isn't released until July. I am still searching for copy, maybe I missed the pre-order boat!

Interesting. So it’s been delayed.

IT's been delayed until August 5th because of problems with the manufacture of the Mediabook.

Retrogold (the company handling the distribution) and Shamrock, being lazy and custumer-unfriendy as always, did non announce this further delay until July 1st.

Those shamrock MBs seems to appear to amazon.de marketplace quite soon after release but are on expensive side. Around 45-50€ a piece, might be more this time as prices have been increased since release of Angel Enforcers. Think it was 32€ D&T but these new items are 37€.

I am still trying to buy a copy, only seen them on German sites months ago. None of them would send to the UK! If I manage to get one ill report back.

First impressions of a user at movieside.de are that the transfer was done from a pretty beat-up print and has several SD inserts. It shows the German title card.

Interesting so they’ve used the censored 35mm print and then inserted the unrated scenes in SD, which is what they did with the other ones as well, so I’m OK with this, because most of the movie is in Full 1080p HD.

Same situation as with Blood Brothers. I'm glad I didn't order that for around 40 €.

BloodBrothers BluRay to me was a very massive upgrade over all previous releases, and the print scan genuinely looked impressive through out all of the HD footage.

It’s possible that unless a 4K scan was done on the internegative/inter-positive or the OCN, and AI upscaling codecs were added as well as Dolby Vision, it’s unlikely a much better result would be possible. I’m only guessing, but these were independently produced movies in the 1980’s.

The problem is that Shamrock does not have access to any original materials, only to theatrical prints from Ascot Entertainment in Switzerland (Ascot Films was the distributor of many Seasonal Films titles in Europe in the 1980s). Ascot is also the most likely source of Shamrock's licences for these films.

There may also not be any original materials other than these prints for these movies.

The official Kino Lorber release of part 1 was assembled from several HD sources and then spliced/edited together (at least that’s what I remember reading)

I don't believe that. It's much more likely that the original materials are caught in some kind of legal struggle since Seasonal Films closed down.

This completely sold out in May or June. It’s one of these German Mediabook companies that don’t care for the movie and just drain their customers out like cancer with their 10 cover variant releases. There’s probably a handful of people that buys it because they are interested in the film, some because of the German dub, and then there’s s huge group of customers that just keep these things sealed on the shelf as an „investment“ and never watch it. Your best bet may be eBay for a ridiculous price. Or wait 2-3 years if they decide to do a Keep Case. But they can’t drain their customers enough with Keep cases, so it takes time. If I ever see a copy I’ll message you. But atm they didn’t even shipped out most of the pre-orders. I only ever read angry customer messages with this company.
