Default Blade Runner Worth It?

I have never seen this movie. Does it have a lot of fighting and action? They are selling the non-briefcase edition(4 or 5 disks) at my local Target for $35.00.
Is it worth it or should I get something like 3:10 to Yuma instead?

Some good action. More of a philisophical thinker. I love it and own the edition you're inquiring about. But that's just my opinion, you may not like it. It seems like people either love it or hate it, but rarely anything in between.

Yes, it is very much worth it. but its not a non stop action movie if thats what your looking for. but its a fantastic futuristic movie and it comes with all the versions that were made. also some good action scenes as well, but like the other poster said, you do have to think a little

go for it, you wont regret it

There's some fighting and action, but it isn't really the main point of the movie, it's more about what was at the time a ground breakingly spectacular vision of the future, and it's also a thought provoking movie that makes you think about how brief our time on this earth is, and the meaning of our existence.

If you want loads of fighting and action, get War instead

Oh it does not have a lot of fighting and action. However, it is one of my top 20 most favorite movies of all time.

I think if you are a fan of Sci-fi at all, this is a must own. Plus is looks excellent on Blu Ray.

Blade Runner is considered a legend in the SciFi film genre, so Id say its a must own.

As for me being a huge fan. Id just say that its a film I appreciate.

You should pick it up if ONLY to see what can be done on bluray when a film is given a proper restoration.

Blade Runner 5-disc Blu-Ray is $28 from Amazon:

http://www.amazon.com/Runner-Five-Di...2777613&sr=8-2

I think it's one of the best values in Blu-Ray. 5 discs, including probably the best film documentary I've seen ("Dangerous Days", the Making of Blade Runner), along with 4 versions of the film, and hours of deleted scenes and extras.

"Blade Runner worth it?" - Hell yeah!!!
If you like sci-fi this is a MUST OWN!
It does not rely on a lot of action like most movies nowadays do, but the atmosphere of the whole film just sucks you in and leaves you wanting more afterwards!

This is definitely in my Top 10!

Yes Blade Runner is worth it. Yes 3:10 to Yuma is worth it. Can't go wrong with either.

Both top quality movies in two very different Genres. If you prefer hyper plasma accelerator blasters in your action movies... Blade Runner. If you prefere .45 caliber double action six shooters in your action movies.... 3:10.

Post Blade Runner>Re Due

From the original form (Laser Disc) to the new Bluray release. You just can't compare Beta to VHS without it's flaws. Blade Runner is WORTH it's quality in Bluray. GO GET IT NOW!!

No offense, but seriously all of you that are recommending this movie as a must buy for him is just wrong IMO.

The average person that has not seen this film will probably be very disappointed in buying this movie. It's a movie that you definitely need to rent first before committing to a purchase. This is not a movie you go in turning off the brain. This is definitely an intellectual movie and requires a lot of thought process when watching. In fact it may take 2 or 3 times before you fully understand and appreciate this film.

The reason I say this because most people unexpectedly go into this movie thinking it's some sort of a sci fi action movie and that is just not the case.

This is also the movie you use when you want to show off what a 20+ year movie can look like with a top notch blu-ray transfer.

Rent it first.

Agreed. To the OP: you should never blind buy based upon other people's taste's. Although feedback and recomendations are always a good help you should never let anyone else spend your money for you. Unless it's your wife and it'll keep you from sleeping on the couch

No offense taken. He asked for our opinions. We gave it to him just as you did. You don't know he will not enjoy it just as much as we don't know for sure if he will. Asking for opinions is not a sure thing by any means. Renting Blade Runner would be a good idea. So would renting 3:10 to Yuma. He may like them both. He may not.

Beware of opinions to make decisions as they are not your own.

Jesus,

You better buy the special 5 disc collectors edition. I have it, and it owns. You owe it to yourself if you never seen the movie.

this topic on these 2 movies comes up a lot I hated blade runner for its time it might of been a great movie but to watch it for the first time now ehhh not so much. 3:10 started off like it was going to be a great western but as the movie went on the movie went down hill. make a night out of it and rent both it will be a horrible night but u will save money which u will need for alcohol after watching 4 hours of bad movies

It is a classic film and a must have for the person that loves sci fi. The blu ray version is amazing to see and the sound is incrediable. They did a wonderful job on this one!

3:10 to Yuma is also great, but a completely different experience.

Warner put together an incredible package for Blade Runner with all the various cuts and extras. I can't recommend a blind buy though unless you like philosophical sci-fi. Many people love the movie.
