Maybe they are working on a new restoration and/or new extras? Fans would like a version of Come September and Strange Bedfellows without the burned-in English subtitles but Universal would probably have to go back to the original camera negatives and I would imagine Universal would only be willing to do that for Pillow Talk because it is the most popular of their late 50s/early 60s romantic comedies.

This is fantastic news! One of my absolute favorite rom-coms from the 1960s! I don't understand why Universal let this one go out-of-print, it isn't even available to (legally) stream so it's most welcome that Kino is releasing it on blu-ray!

Note: Like the original theatrical print and previous home video releases, the blu-ray has burned-in subtitles for some of the Italian dialogue. Kino's removable subtitles do not add English translations for the Italian dialogue that wasn't translated by the burned-in English subtitles. ![]() ![]() Last edited by whiteberry; 10-28-2021 at 06:43 PM. |

A comparison of the Kino and Elephant Films blu-rays and the Amazon stream...
Picture All three use the same HD master but Kino's blu-ray is a little darker than the other two. Elephant Films is on the left (first screenshot), Kino is in the middle (second screenshot) and Amazon is on the right (third screenshot): ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Note: DVDClassik said in their review of the Elephant Films blu-ray that they encountered an encoding error around the 81 minute mark that caused the movie to freeze and have to be restarted. I didn't experience this mysef but it's worth mentioning. Audio Kino: English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Elephant Films: English DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0, French DTS-HD Master Audio 2.0 Subtitles Kino: English Elephant Films: French Extras Kino
The Come September theatrical trailer is 18 seconds longer on the Elephant Films blu-ray because it has an Elephant Films opening logo and a text screen before and after the trailer. It's the same exact trailer that is on the Kino blu-ray. The source for the trailer for both blu-rays is SD (probably taken from the DVD). Kino leaves the trailer in SD while Elephant Films upconverts it to HD. Neither one of them look that great. Elephant Films is on the left, Kino is on the right: ![]() ![]() Menus Kino: Yes Elephant Films: Yes Running Time Kino: 1:53:31 Elephant Films: 1:53:31 Note: There is now one more blu-ray of Come September. It has been released in Germany: ![]() Last edited by whiteberry; 10-28-2021 at 06:44 PM. |
