2023 Women's World Cup

Anyone here following it? The U.S. women have looked kind of flat, former U.S. player Carli Lloyd is doing on set work with Fox Sports coverage. Last night she called out the U.S. team questioning their heart and said they look flat. What really surprised me is when Lloyd said that Alex Morgan should be benched.

The German women look pretty good so far as does Sweden. I don't know why, but I find women's soccer more exciting and fun to watch compared to men's soccer.

Sweden knocks USA out of World Cup in penalty kicks

After a scoreless match, Sweden won 5-4 on sudden death penalty kicks.

IMOP, some may not like this, but the problem with the U.S women soccer program is that Megan Rapino has poisoned it with her woke attitude. I don't think I have ever seen a player more disliked than her. She was a great player, but it's time to for her to hit the road (the way she was laughing after missing the her goal attempt was a disgrace.) I know a lot of Americans who are not happy with the teams attitude when they play the national anthem before each game. Carli Llyod is my all time favorite player and I loved watching that 2015 World Cup USA team. But, ever since Rapino came along and emerged 4-5 years ago, I have personally found it hard to support the U.S. women. They have gotten progressively worse because of what is going on. They only won the bronze at the last Olympics and are now eliminated from the 2023 World Cup (earliest exit EVER for a U.S. women's soccer team.) The coaches/staff better end this woke attitude within the program or they are done for good.

The end of an era for American soccer. Going to miss watching these icons of the sport. It’s been really fun watching them the last 12+ years with my wife and daughters.

We’ll be fine for the future, the system is stacked with young talent. I was referring to some of the older players on the roster. Rapinoe is retiring. Alex Morgan has spoken at length how difficult it is for her to be away from her daughter. I don’t know how many more major tournaments she has in her. I doubt we’ll see Sauerbrunn and O’Hara again with how the emphasis will certainly be on youth going forward. It has been a pleasure cheering these ladies on, and we look forward to the next generation paving their own way.

Good lord. They didn’t win a WC from 1999-2015. Must have been because they were too “woke” during those years or maybe Mia Hamm “poisoned” the team on her way out.

Could any country represent “wokeness” more than Sweden? Yet somehow they still won the game.

Carli Lloyd missed a pk against Japan in the 2011 WC final that contributed to a loss. She must have been experimenting with wokeness that day. It couldn’t be that she just missed the kick because sh*t happens.

Megan Rapinoe literally won the golden ball at the very last World Cup. She’s actually been at the tail end of her career as you say the team has progressively gotten worse. I think you’re right, the next USWNT team coach should weed out the wokeness and not focus on better strategy and helping maximize the talent of the new and young but also inexperienced players that will be on future rosters.

For people who claim to love America so much, you sure find any reason that you can to not support Americans.

Solo and Morgan were my girls man, Solo just had an attitude about her that was like damn and Morgan was fine as hell even after the kid. These women play with grit and heart for the most part, 2024 Team USA will be fine.

All this controversy and notoriety is all due to (a) the success of women's soccer as a global sport, and (b) the achievements by the USWNT in that sport. If neither were true, all that wokeness (or any political views for that matter) would not get any attention. Would you pay attention to the political views of an amateur bingo or pancake cookoff champion in your local neighborhood? The point is, this comes with the territory. If the USWNT said streaming sux and Blu-ray rulez (just trying to stay on topic), it would still be turned into epic media frenzy and controversy.
