Default Business Wire: Best Buy to recommend Blu-ray as the customer's digital format choice

OMG!!!

Quote:
Best Buy to Recommend Blu-ray as the Customer's Digital Format Choice

Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) is taking a step forward in addressing consumer confusion about high-definition formats. Beginning in early March, the leading consumer electronics retailer will prominently showcase Blu-ray hardware and software products in its Best Buy retail and online channels in the United States.

"Consumers have told us that they want us to help lead the way. We've listened to our customers, and we are responding. Best Buy will recommend Blu-ray as the preferred format," said Brian Dunn, Best Buy's president and chief operating officer. "Our decision to shine a spotlight on Blu-ray Disc players and other Blu-ray products is a strong signal to our customers that we believe Blu-ray is the right format choice for them."

Good to see them officially making a statement. Too bad they're not completely dropping HD DVD though since that would make it crystal clear. Oh well, hopefully they're just leading up to that.

Just another shoe dropping. I would expect over time HD-DVD will be phased out of Best Buy stores, and then it will go to on-line and then, by the end of this year, will disappear and/or become collector items.

Yes, the dominoes do continue to fall.
Yes, announcements are being made to end the war and end confusion.
Very good news for the average consumer, who should be able to choose HiDef media with confidence.

BOOYAH!
I heard that each store gets to decide how much, if any, HD DVD products they should carry. In that they might just drop it quietly over the next few months.
But the best news is they are going Pro-Blu with this! This is another BIG nail in teh coffin!
