Hitman 3 (PS5)

I will be playing Hitman 3 for PS5 very soon, with the free PS5 upgrade when you buy the PS4 version which includes the PSVR mode for the full game, plus PSVR for the prior 2 games. I would've just got the PS5 version if the PSVR mode wasn't part of the PS4 game.

Got a decent sale price so that's good. I only played Hitman back on the PS3 and thought it was interesting but a bit clunky for the gameplay. Hopefully iO Interactive (007 developers) have refined this latest game a bit.

Heard the gunplay is challenging as you don't have much ammunition. It'll be interesting to see if there's a way to survive gunfights in the game and keep the main mission on track.

The reviews suggested some of the maps are giant, so that's cool. It seems there's no timer for the objective, though some actions could provoke problems where your time window is affected.

Should be interesting. Now back to Fenyx Rising on PS5 in the meantime!

Sony announces and confirms a PSVR2 VR headset for PS5.

So the PSVR version is neat to look at for the maps, but the maps have terrible pop in for smaller objects and the PSVR controls are really bad and clumsy as all hell for the aiming and attacking with weapons. Even trying to pick something up is a hassle. They botched it up instead of just letting the normal controls be an option for everything. You use the analogs on the controller to move, but for aiming and attacking, you have to use the controller's light bar with the camera and it tracks like garbage for this game for some reason. Dumb. Otherwise, it's a great looking PSVR game except for the pedestrians, which look tiny compared to real life. And mostly lifeless without expressions.

The game play in 2D is much better. Downloading the PS5 version soon.

Is the ps5 upgrade the standard or deluxe? I got the deluxe version on the ps4.

You can buy the standard Hitman 3 and get the free upgrade on PS5.

For importing the past missions/maps from the other games, I believe you only require disc 2, which will also import missions from game 1 even if you didn't buy game 1. That was my experience for PSVR anyway for Hitman 3. The PSVR version is not great due to horrible tracking controls that they need to fix, since they force you to aim with the controller which is constantly warping out of view.

The regular 2D version plays so much better.

I finally upgraded my PS4 version of Hitman 3 to the PS5 version. 60 fps 4K and it looks better.

The game is interesting as a free form stealth game. It won't let you go anywhere though, like over certain ledges to hide that would be great cover, or into the water to hide, or onto a boat, etc.

Wearing a disguise is really the biggest key to the game to subdue suspicion from enemies. Some maps are good, other maps are terrible, smaller and dull.

It's a generally good game though. Nothing exciting, but good.

The gun fights are not very good and clumsy at times. Would be cool if it had effective gun combat like in Watch Dogs Legion or any other action game with good cover and firing lock ons. You pretty much only start with a sniper gun, and then have to earn your weapons in the map.

I do like how maps from prior games are opened up if you want to play them. I have Hitman 2, but Hitman 1 was not necessary to play Hitman 1 maps. Hitman 2 is apparently the key to access all the maps aside from the okay maps in Hitman 3.
