Police Story 3: Supercop Blu-ray

Ok, I just picked this up and I am watching it. While it's cropped from 2.35 to 1.78, the PQ does look nice on it. It's such a shame that the Chinese audio is not present on the disc. Worth the eight and some change I purchased it for.

Supercop Blu-ray 1.78 DTS-HD MA 2.0

Supercop Blu-ray Review

3 Film Action Collection Blu-ray
Anamorphic/Scope Ratio DD 2.0

High-Powered Action Pack Blu-ray
1.78 DTS-HD MA 5.1

Supercop / Twin Dragons Double Feature Blu-ray
1.78 DTS-HD MA 2.0

4-Film Action Pack: Volume 4 Blu-ray 1.78 DTS-HD MA 2.0

So...
  • It's cropped from 2.35:1 to 1.78:1.
  • It's presented in its edited American form.
  • No original Chinese soundtrack/English subtitles are included.
  • We're in the year 2011.

Not worth a dollar, let alone eight.

It's too bad TWC lost the rights via Dragon Dynasty because even the Weinsteins would've done a better job with this title than Echo Bridge.

Well, that's your opinion. I'm sure the video is better than the Chinese release of the film.

Its the US version so I can live with it being dubbed only (plus Tom Jones singing Kug Fu Fighting is money!). But ultimately the cropping is the dealbreaker for me.

A great hong kong movie on a dreadfull blu ray,MY reasons.
1) dts does not work the option is there,
2)picture is vhs quality.
3)it's croped,so it's fits full screen.
the best"s thing about this blue ray is the price at best buy. im tired these old movies on blue ray when its not a noticable inprovment over regular dvd format.

Ugh, you're better off just buying the Dragon Dynasty DVD and upconverting it. Better yet, buy the Kam and Ronson blu-ray. Sure, it IS an upconvert from SD, but at least it's both uncut and in 2.35. These films never get the treatment they deserve.

Thanks guys for the reviews on it. I had it reserved but I'll be cancelling it tomorrow. No subtitles and no optional original language track is inexcusable.

It does have a DTS-HD 2.0 track, this will appear as Stereo/Pro-logic on many receivers as it is a stereo audio track.

I wish people would quit buying shitty releases and saying "Oh, this title is OK im happy with it!"

it's ridiculous. Classic films are going to be ruined on the format for awhile now.

The cropping for me is the 1st deal breaker.
I was gonna buy it but it's not gonna happen anymore.
The shitty distributors should just quit releasing bds if they can't do the job right.

THIS.

If they at least presented both American and Chinese versions on the disc in its OAR, they could've made it 1080i and DTS-HD MA 2.0 and I would've been fine. It would've been an upgrade from the DVD.

However, the American dubbed cut only? Cropped aspect ratio? Nope.

Unacceptable. It's 2011. Everything should be in its OAR on BD.

Someone should write an angry email to Echo Bridge, asking why the suck so hard at releasing movies a lot of people like!

Damn, I saw this yesterday at Best Buy for $8 and aaalllllmost picked it up. GLAD I didn't after reading all of this.

Really sucks...I saw this in theaters when it released in the US and enjoyed it quite a bit.

Is a "not crappy blu-ray" of Rumble in the Bronx coming?

This. Yes Asia has the first 3 films for a reasonable price. A lot cheaper than Amazon or Ebay. The transfer is horrible but at least it isn't dubbed.

I am starting to feel that Blu-Ray as an idea has failed. We are going backwards towards convenience over quality.
