Smile Amusing story from Futureshop

I was in Futueshop last night here in Kelowna, buying a slipcase for my laptop. I had a few minutes to kill so I wandered over to the Blu-ray section. Next to me was some poor sap flicking through the HD DVDs. I asked him if he knew he was looking at HD DVDs, and mentioned that DVDs were over there. The guy says he knows, and it's HD DVDs he's interested in.

I told him about the war being over, after Warner and everyone else, including Toshiba, throwing in the towel. He looked at me sheepishly and said "yeah, I know. I bought my HD DVD player six months ago". "Oh" says I, trying to hide my mirth.

At the checkout I phoned my wife and relayed to her what had just happened. The guy in front of me turned round to look at me and started chuckling. We exchanged a few pleasantaries about how dumb the other guys was, and concluded that he was probably a misinformed cheapskate. :-)

Wow. You are so awesome, and he is so worthless. That scumbag sure got what was coming to him. Let us all celebrate and revel in the misfortunes of others.

Congratulations. You're the best.

Really.

No offense but I agree with him.

"Lolz hay gys, I was at Best Buyz and there was this guy who was looking at hd dudz lolz zomg!"

I like to think that we are above this, I mean not even taking into account the format war is over which makes it even more of an embarrassment...

I hear you, and posts should move past this now that the war is over. But, if you look at his post history, you will see he is pretty much blazing on HD-DVD. He came to the wrong place for that as far as I am concerned. I won't argue, but if you are looking for sympathy making pro HD-DVD posts you came to the wrong place.

Nah pro hd dvd posts are even more embarrassing.
I mean as sad as I view people who make posts like this thread, anyone still fighting the good fight for red ...wow...that is like sleeping with large hairy girl down the street.
I mean if you are going to do it, well that is your right but you do NOT go talking about it in public.

WRONG. I have stated numerous times that I prefer neither format over the other. I have one Blu-Ray player and 4 Blu-ray movies. I have one HD-DVD player and zero HD-DVD movies.

Your reading comprehension needs work, son.

heh, yeah, meh, at the prices those things are going these days it probably doesn't really matter that the formats dead anyway.
I mean, I spent THIRTEEN POUNDS ($26) on a ticket to watch Rambo in Leicester Square on Friday night.

Jesus, THAT was dumb (not the Rambo part, that was awesome... bwaha).
I got to see it once, if someone buys an HD DVD, atleast they have the opportunity to watch it several times over two or three, maybe more years.
It's all about how you judge value in the end. Yeah, the blu-ray will last you a decade or more depending on how long the format is supported, but hey, at firesale prices it might not matter to some.

I am a true blu, but with 10$ movies and dirt cheap players I've never been tempted to pick up a HD-DVD player until now. It may be awhile before the red studios get their poop together and put some of the few great red movies out on blu. You can pick up 10 movies and an add-on for a hundred bucks and not worry about hurting blu's numbers...

Thats cheaper then renting...
