So, I haven't finished watching this, but I was able to watch some of the beginning as well as the entire short film The Waiters. One thing I should note is that despite online images, this release is not a U certificate like the main feature, but a 12, because the BBFC have raised The Waiters from a U in 1969 to a 12 in 2020. This is a bit of a stretch, honestly, and I feel it's really more PG material, especially considering that there is no dialogue in the whole film and little in the way of non-verbal communication. Oddly, the main feature doesn't seem to have a new classification, with the last one I can find dating from 2007. Perhaps this is because Network appear to have licensed the film from Studiocanal, who were Optimum back then.

Unfortunately, I also didn't think The Waiters was very good, mainly because it is much too long and the lack of hijinks and especially any dialogue is painfully apparent. You do get a lot of Benny's classic slapping people on the back of the head and a few of his funny looks, but other than that, and yes, a cheeky attempt at watching a girl undress (that ends in disaster for the young man involved), there isn't much here that's more than mildly amusing at best. I think it could have been much funnier in a shorter sketch version, and perhaps he did re-do it. However, Network's 4K remaster (which begins and ends with Paramount logos that look original) looks and sounds very good, with nice color and free of any damage.

I started watching the main feature, and so far I like it much better than The Waiters, and the good news is that it also looks and sounds very good, allowing for the usual tiny flecks of dirt here and there, but I haven't finished it, yet. Hopefully, I will be able to watch the whole film tomorrow night.

I'm super happy some Benny Hill is out on blu, but should it not be in widescreen, it being from 1956?
