"Allocine is reporting that Polanski will shortly begin production on his next film, J’accuse. The film is expected to tell the story of the famous Dreyfus affair, which was a political scandal that rocked France in the late 19th century. The scandal included a Jewish man being wrongfully convicted of treason, even after there was irrefutable evidence showing someone else was the culprit.

Polanski has long been in development of a film surrounding this topic but admitted multiple times that it was going to be a costly project and would have to land a major star to secure funding. Well, the report states that the filmmaker found that star in Jean Dujardin." SOURCE

Oh man am I excited about this one! One of my favorite directors tackling a fascinating subject, and one that he has wanted to do seemingly forever.

This had better not end up going by the wayside!

Looks like everything he's making is French as of late.

This is one of those projects stuck in development hell for so long that I had lost hope of ever seeing it materialize. Glad to be wrong.

It has the potential of being as personal a work as The Pianist.

Sounds like his most personal work since The Pianist but he hasn't made anything as good as that since. Heck, after Chinatown, the only films he's made that were great were The Pianist and Tess. His glory days are way past him.

I think The Tenant, Bitter Moon, Death and the Maiden and The Ninth Gate are among his best work and while nowhere near as good as The Pianist, The Ghost Writer, Carnage and Venus in Fur are all pretty damn good too.

Jean Dujardin has starred in a lot of films since winning his Oscar, including two or three supporting roles in English-language films, but this is surely gonna bring him a level of attention he hasn't had since The Artist.

I still need to track down a copy of Based on a True Story - apparently all the blu-rays available don't have English subtitles. This movie sounds interesting, but probably will also have a limited home video release.

I have a very good feeling about this picture. Of course, it's Polanski so no surprise there.

But Pawel Edelman is the DP, and that bodes well. And I really like the cast, too.
