From the opening to end of Tron: Legacy to Oblivion, now Top Gun: Maverick - and a few other titles he is a great visual story teller, which is what Zack Snyder is labeled as a lot, thing is Joseph Kosinski is better, by a long shot to me. Now with that said minus Top Gun , things like Tron Top Gun just had everything - the budget to boot too. And Oblivion/Tron are not only visually stunning but have decent to really good scripts.More so than Snyders, but gosh has and does he do well with completing stories fairly well , visually first, then with a pretty solid script(S). (talking about Joseph Kosinski not Snyder).
Its a shame Tom Cruise was in two of these projects because Kosinski gets basically zero credit in the media. Like Spielberg saying Tom Cruise saved cinema - true last year, however about the director? No credit? Ah - well. Plus he was the one who suggested Connelly for Maverick after working with her previously, big and good decision. Probably her best role - and work ethic in quite some time. His supporting cast is always fair - to really good. He got a good performance out of Olivia Wilde and a leading - good performance out of Morgan Freeman who basically stands in front of cameras as of the last 15 years (Tho Nolan got him to work). All this said, the man deserves respect. ![]() I might add one last thing, the scores in his films are always really good too. But few praised. |
