The first blu looked very nice. I expect the new 4k upgrade to be a subtle improvement, like with Humanoids from the Deep. But who knows, it could be a real jaw dropper. That would be nice! That new art steel book, though. Bleck.

It certainly does! But it didn't blow me away in comparison like the other Corman 4k upgrades I have. That's more a compliment to the older bluray Humanoids transfer than dissing the 4k remaster. Slumber Party happens to have a very kick ass early high def transfer, like Humanoids did.
Is there a chance the controversial, uncut dvd commentary track (that bashes Corman) will be on the new bluray? Always hope.

Received my copy & figure today. At the opening title sequence I was thinking it was a slight improvement over the old release. Then once the shower scene happened, I realized it's a huge leap! A terrific new transfer (darker with improved contrast and detail). The action figure is amazing! Will be nice along with the Slumber Party Massacre pillow case I got from Scream when I pre-ordered the dvd many years ago. I'm still unsure if the commentary is uncut like the first pressing dvd.

Turns out, it was part 2 in the old dvd "collection" release that had the commentary edited after 1st pressing and blu releases.

Part 3 was also edited in the commentary, but not nearly as much as the Part 2 commentary was.

I own the first pressing DVD set with the "unedited" commentaries, originally purchased direct from Shout Factory. Those were never supposed to have gotten out to the public, but some leaked out for a short time. I still have the SPM pillowcase that came with it too.

Anyways, I received the new SteelBook + Figure + Poster the other day from SF. The transfer is light and day superior to the old Blu-ray's transfer. I'll try to post some screenshot comparisons soon.

Here are some screenshot comparisons I've uploaded of the transfers from the OLD Blu-ray (2014) and the NEW Blu-ray (2020).

These are taken approximately from the same frames in the film, but they are just general comparisons...not always exact frame comparisons.

The old Blu-ray had an open aspect ratio of 1.78:1. The new Blu-ray restores the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1

"OLD Blu-ray" screenshots are shown above, and the "NEW Blu-ray" screenshots are the ones underneath them:

















































The improvements of the new 4K scan are more apparent in some than others, but it looks quite nice in motion...
