They released the first four series on Blu-ray, but then DVD for each subsequent series. Here’s hoping after series 9 has been shown they’ll give us a comprehensive Blu-ray box set.

Series 1-4 were released individually (1 and 2 much belatedly), but sales were poor so it went to DVD only from 5 onwards. On top of that, series 1 was deleted weirdly early so goes for high prices. Frustratingly, on DVD, there are several episodes - Thinking Out Loud, Dead Line and 3by3, where the show uses 50i videolook as part of the storytelling, but on DVD they are awkwardly filmised to 25p, which looks utterly atrocious. We can but hope that a Bluray box set might appear (given that it wouldn't incur any new restoration or BBFC costs), but it's a long shot. I also think that Spirit do the more recent releases (ghosting for the BBC Studios label), which complicates it further. The League Of Gentlemen reunion projects (including its 2017 specials which were essentially made by the Inside No 9 production team) have similarly failed to see Bluray. |

Listings for a complete boxset have started appearing at places like Amazon and HMV, but sadly, it seems it will remain DVD only.
![]() Here's the link to the Amazon page: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Inside-No-C...dp/B0CVQQZKFF/ I was hoping they would consider, at least for the complete boxset, to return to Blu-Ray. This series is so well shot, it's a "crime" most series aren't available in HD in physical format. |

It's disappointing that they stopped releasing these on blu ray. I love the series, and would happily have carried on buying them but I've got them recorded off the TV in HD, so why spend money on inferior picture quality. It's not even as if they've bothered adding any extras on the discs to make them worth buying.

I have to buy the home video releases when they launch. I went from watching them in HD, in great looking form, to mediocre SD (on a big TV, it really shows the difference in resolution). ![]() |

Typical BBC - belatedly release onto a format and wonder why it didn't sell as well as hoped. If they released them on that format in the first place...
Collector mentality may well have had it that people had already started buying the show on DVD so would continue doing so. Then you get those of us who refuse to buy DVDs of HD shows, especially those readily available digitally in HD. The not-we at the BBC will look at DVD sales figures and feel justified they didn't release a Blu-ray, without having an insight into the nuances of why. Thirdly, the physical media market is smaller, so there's little hope of correcting any of that. Most really bothered about owning the show in HD will have already bought them off iTunes or something by now and few will buy again just because it's on a disc, even if they may have preferred to buy on disc in the first instance. Gutted these aren't available on blu-ray. I've seen seasons 1-7 but missed last year's 8th season. Season 9 starts on May 8th, so I'll be watching that on BBC2. I can't even watch on iPlayer as I don't have access to iPlayer content.

The BBC's attitude is baffling. Why buy a dvd when it can easily be downloaded in HD? Shooting themselves in the foot.
I'm still more than peeved at them for not releasing the League of Gentlemen anniversary episodes and final live show on BD. I refuse to buy dvds of them. |

Just out of interest, why wouldn’t you have access to IPlayer?

It asks me to log in, and then asks if I have a TV licence. (I don't, as a I cancelled about 3 or 4 years ago due to not watching terrestrial TV). When I say 'no', it throws me out to the main menu.
Bugger. I don't watch TV so have absolutely no idea what's on telly nowadays. |
