Quote:
Boone (Craig Sheffer) may be a troubled young man, but his troubles are just beginning. Set up as the fall guy in a string of slasher murders, he decides he'll hide by crossing the threshold that separates “us” from “them” and sneak into the forbidden subterranean realm of Midian. Boone will live among the monsters.

Hellraiser creator Clive Barker writes (adapting his novel Cabal) and directs this vivid leap into horror that asks: in the battle of man vs. monster, who's really the monster? The answer supplies flesh-crawling suspense, sudden fear, a colorful Danny Elfman score and a creepy array of shape-shifting beings. They are the Nightbreed, denizens of a world beyond death, beyond the imagination, perhaps beyond anything you've seen.

Awesome! I just watched the blu-ray not too long ago and really enjoyed the film, but a new transfer could look fantastic! On the Clive Barker side of things, I'd love to see Hellraiser come to 4K soon too!

It’d be pretty neat if they give this one a hard box and have every cut in the set including The Cabal Cut.

I never got around to buying the previous limited edition. So, this is a definite buy, unless otherwise.

As do I. I'm pretty sure Arrow, will release them at some point or at least the first two. It would be awesome if they got their hands on more of the sequels too. Granted, I'm only interested in the first four, but would gladly take the rest if in a set.

Have to agree with that. Despite "Nightbreed" and its effects/make-up, "Lord of Illusions" pacing just moves better.

Awesome. While not totally egregious, the current Blu-ray does look a bit artificial. A new scan from the OCN with no sharpening and a solid grade should look fantastic.

Intrada is also releasing Elfman's expanded score for the film this year on something called a CD

With it being a four-disc release, I'm gonna guess it's probably just a port of their initial limited release, with the UHD housing the director's cut.

While I tend to alternate which cut I watch, I prefer the Director’s Cut so a bit bummed it isn’t in 4K.

I only ever owned the two disc set on blu-ray so I'll be getting this to own all the extras and a 4K version of the theatrical cut but I'm pretty bummed with these companies continually putting out 4K releases and only doing the theatrical cuts. Dead Silence I was okay with because the unrated version was just a marketing ploy but this, Army of Darkness, Lifeforce, etc. The director's cuts are often the preferred version and Shout knows this. I'm gonna guess this is just a way for them to pay for one scan now, make some money and then put out another edition years down the road.

Only theatrical in 4K?? That's.. disappointing.

Didn't Shout Factory (and Arrow later) restored the director's cut from the negative?

The theatrical cut is the worst cut. Easy pass for me, unfortunately.

No Director Cut on 4K no sale. They did the same with Lifeforce and Dead Silence (No unrated Cut) and that needs to stop. No reason whatsoever to do theatrical cuts only at this point.

What the hell. But wasn’t the Blu-ray of the DC a scan of the OCN?

What is it with Scream Factory only doing theatrical cuts in 4K? Even Arrow started doing this with Last House on the Left (2009) release.
