I was just thinking it was a shame what happened to this series, but an idea of a reboot is exactly what could bring it back, and not another WTF that was part 4...

The Saint's Rows games actually have too much humor IMO, to the point I don't take the games seriously and don't feel the need to even complete them after a few hours testing them out. The humor is sometimes sort of funny.

I bought the first Saint's Row when it was on sale at 19.99 for PS3. That game was clunky and buggy with glitches. A cheap open city game. It has some good ideas here and there.

Saints Row Gat Out of Hell is mildly interesting and I like the ability to fly. Got it for $3.99 on PSN, playable on PS5.

Then the Saint's Row President Game, forget the name, is mildly interesting as you explore the digital matrix city where the aliens have taken over. Got it for $4.50 or something for my PS5.

If they can expand the scale of the city and make the game feel more epic and less artificial, that would be a good step. They can keep the humor as it's part of the style of the games, but switch up the game play so it's not so over the top all the time. Fix the vehicle controls so they're not so slippery.

The first game was Xbox 360 exclusive. It wasn’t until Saints Row 2 that it was released on PlayStation. I like them they are like a parody of GTA it doesn’t take it self to seriously.

Yes, thanks, I had it for my 360 that I eventually traded in for my PS3 after my 360 had too many burn out red ring console melt downs.

The humor is definitely unique about it, that's true. I like the very good customization of the character that is possible. Too bad GTA doesn't allow that in the main story.

The only thing I don’t like about the customization is that your character seemed lifeless. They only called the character The Boss. I wish all games would actually be able to say the names that you give to your characters. The only thing they need to change is everything about 4. Before that game it was great and funny.

I like 3 & 4 is my favorite of the series. If this goes back to being like 1 & 2 (which I didn’t like too much) I’ll be skipping this one.

Yeah all they had to do was do a soft reboot with Saints 5 and it would be good to go.

I haven't kept track of the series' story for Saint's Row at all regarding the characters, so as long as the new Saint's Row is next gen graphics and not glitchy and sloppy, I'll consider this when it's released probably in late 2022.

I'll be honest, I didn't even know Volition was still around. What have they been creating since the last Saint's Row years ago?

I agree -- the first Saint's Row was clunky, but still a fun game with a good soundtrack. Gave the GTA: San Andreas fans another, and newer option at the time. Saint's Row 2 was GREAT and had an even better soundtrack. They lost me with the 3rd one and beyond. I think at that point they stopped trying to "out-GTA" GTA and went in a completely different direction. I think I tried the Gat Out of Hell when it was free on PS. It was awfully mindless, IMO. I guess the flying was cool.

Thanks. Yeah, the series overall is actually trying to be more humorous that the story doesn't feel as important, when each mission feels kind of like a joke story. The game gives some good freedom right away after the first mission and the whole small map is open right away for the most part in President and Gat games. It's cool they did some new stuff for the spin off games, but again, the mechanics, presentation and gameplay feel kind of clunky.

It'll be interesting to see what direction this game is going. More over the top outrageous or something slightly more reality based in the real world setting.

I would be really surprised if this game is well into development as of August 2019, 2 years ago now. 2 years of development I guess isn't much these days. Now it seems to take most developers 5 years to complete a full game.

I actually liked the crazy over here the top humour of 3 & 4.
I never played the first 2 games.

That said I’d rather the series go forward, not backwards. It’s as if developers have lost all narrative creativity & can only look at the past for game ideas. Oh well.

Today is Gamescon Germany with Geoff Keighley. This game will be revealed with a teaser trailer probably. Hopefully it'll be good.

But yeah, too many remakes at this point that makes gamers wonder where more of the new ideas have gone. It's a safer bet to go with nostalgia though, so that's what they're banking on to make a profit.

Really hoping this reboot goes back to the series roots with Saints Row 1&2. Starting at 3 the series went off the rails.

It looks like a Far Cry rip off. So 6 months away just add another year onto it and it should be released. We all know no studio can meet their original release dates anymore. I just wanted a new game with the original characters. This is an easy pass for me. What’s the point of these Convention it non of the games are not coming out this year? They are useless
